In response to the changing job landscape in Qatar, the Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC) is working on developing a national framework for career guidance and development. This initiative aims to integrate best practices and innovative methodologies in career counseling services to ensure consistency. Founded by the Qatar Foundation, QCDC is dedicated to shaping the future of career guidance and workforce development in the country.

The center’s future plans include expanding its network of stakeholders by collaborating with more local and international partners, such as educational institutions, government agencies, and private sector organizations. By enhancing its digital platforms, QCDC aims to provide more accessible online career counseling services. Utilizing technology will allow for personalized guidance and continuous updates to reflect the latest job market trends.

QCDC is committed to lifelong learning, offering programs that cater to different life stages, from early education to mid-career transitions. The center will continue to promote research and innovation, conducting studies to stay ahead of emerging job market trends. Inclusivity and accessibility will remain a priority, with initiatives supporting underrepresented groups in the job market, such as individuals with learning difficulties.

Aligning with Qatar’s vision for economic, human, and social development, QCDC aims to contribute to sustainable human capital development and support the nation’s transition to a knowledge-based economy. By focusing on key areas such as research and innovation, the center aims to lead the way in career guidance and development to ensure that individuals in Qatar are well-prepared to thrive in a dynamic and evolving job market.

Over the years, QCDC has conducted extensive research involving various stakeholders from government, private sector, students, graduates, and parents. This research has informed the creation of new initiatives and programs aimed at benefiting youth and positively impacting the labor market. The center actively participates in international conferences to exchange knowledge and learn from global career practitioners and researchers.

Through international engagement, QCDC identifies and addresses challenges in Qatar’s career guidance system while proposing effective solutions. By partnering with international stakeholders, the center has implemented the Career Advising System (CAS) tailored to Qatar’s socio-cultural context. This system, based on the Kuder platform, offers comprehensive career planning services in Arabic and English, benefiting over 20,000 students and counselors in Qatar’s public secondary schools. By continuously monitoring career guidance concepts and practices, both locally and globally, QCDC ensures it remains at the forefront of supporting Qatar’s youth in navigating the dynamic job market landscape.
