Nama Power and Water Procurement Company recently announced that it has achieved 60 percent implementation of the Manah 1 and Manah 2 solar energy projects in the wilayat of Manah, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Oman. The projects, with a lumpsum cost of around $800 million, are a significant step in the country’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and decrease the demand for natural gas. The production capacity of these projects, which mainly use solar photovoltaic technology, is 1,000 megawatts.

Covering a total area of 14.5 million square meters, the Manah 1 and Manah 2 projects are spread across more than two million square meters. The total length of their cables extends over 3,000 kilometers, and they are expected to supply power to over 120,000 residential units. The commercial operation of the Manah 1 project is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2025, while the Manah 2 project is anticipated to begin commercial operation in the second quarter of the same year.

Ahmed Salim Al Abri, the Acting CEO of Nama Power and Water Procurement Company, highlighted the importance of these projects in the Sultanate of Oman’s sustainable energy drive. By utilizing solar energy, Oman aims to reduce its reliance on natural gas and contribute to the global efforts to combat climate change. The solar energy projects in Manah are a key part of this strategy, allowing the country to generate clean electricity and promote environmental conservation.

With the implementation of the Manah 1 and Manah 2 solar energy projects, Oman is making significant progress towards achieving its renewable energy goals. By harnessing the power of the sun, the country is able to generate a large amount of electricity while reducing its environmental impact. The projects not only benefit the local community by supplying power to residential units but also contribute to Oman’s overall energy security and sustainability.

The completion of the Manah 1 and Manah 2 solar energy projects will mark a major milestone in Oman’s transition towards a more sustainable energy future. The country’s commitment to renewable energy is evident in these projects, which will play a crucial role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a cleaner environment. As Oman continues to invest in solar energy, it is paving the way for a brighter and more sustainable future for generations to come.

In conclusion, the progress made in the implementation of the Manah 1 and Manah 2 solar energy projects in Oman is a testament to the country’s dedication to sustainable development. By embracing solar energy and reducing its carbon footprint, Oman is taking steps towards a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future. The successful completion of these projects will not only benefit the local community but will also contribute to Oman’s long-term energy security and environmental conservation efforts.
