The Main Committee of the Muscat International Book Fair recently held its first preparatory meeting, setting the stage for the upcoming edition of this significant cultural event. Chaired by Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information and Chairman of the Committee, the meeting marked a crucial step in the planning process for the 30th edition of the Fair, scheduled to take place from 26 March to 5 April 2026.

## Reviewing Past Successes and Planning for the Future

During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the general report of the previous edition of the Muscat International Book Fair, analyzing its achievements and challenges. The discussion also covered the recommendations and proposals outlined in the related statistical reports, providing valuable insights into areas for improvement. By examining the successes and shortcomings of past events, the Committee aims to elevate the Fair’s organizational standard and overall quality. The Committee’s efforts to refine and enhance the Muscat International Book Fair are expected to attract a larger and more diverse audience, further solidifying its position as a premier cultural event in the region.

## Enhancing the Fair’s Organizational Structure

In the context of developing the Fair and elevating its organizational standard, the Committee discussed the initial preparations and proposals for the 30th edition. A key aspect of these preparations involves incorporating innovative elements and fresh ideas to enhance the overall experience for attendees. Furthermore, the Committee is working to strengthen partnerships with local and international stakeholders, ensuring a rich and varied program that showcases the best of Oman’s literary and cultural heritage. The Guest of Honour for the 30th edition will be the Al Wusta Governorate, which is expected to play a significant role in highlighting the region’s unique cultural, historical, and investment opportunities.

### Highlighting Al Wusta Governorate’s Cultural Significance

The participation of Al Wusta Governorate as the Guest of Honour is a significant aspect of the 30th edition of the Muscat International Book Fair. The Governorate is expected to showcase its rich cultural and historical heritage, as well as its investment and tourism potential. By highlighting these aspects, the Fair aims to promote cross-cultural understanding and exchange, while also providing a platform for local businesses and organizations to connect with a global audience. The cultural program for the upcoming edition will include a range of activities and events designed to showcase the diversity of Omani culture.

## A Diverse Cultural Program

The cultural program for the 30th edition of the Muscat International Book Fair promises to be a highlight of the event, featuring a diverse range of activities and events. The program will include a series of seminars, lectures, cultural and literary evenings, artistic events, and dedicated activities for children. These events will provide a platform for authors, publishers, and cultural organizations to share their work and connect with a wider audience. By offering something for everyone, the Fair aims to appeal to a broad range of interests and age groups, making it a truly inclusive and engaging experience.

As the Muscat International Book Fair continues to evolve and grow, it remains a vital part of Oman’s cultural landscape. With its rich history, diverse cultural program, and commitment to promoting literary and cultural exchange, the Fair is set to remain a premier event in the region for years to come. The success of the 30th edition will depend on the continued efforts of the Main Committee and its partners to innovate and improve, ensuring that the Fair remains a dynamic and engaging experience for all attendees.
