The annual pilgrimage of Hajj has commenced in Mina, with over 1.5 million pilgrims from around the world descending on the tent city on the Day of Tarwiyah. Pilgrims arrived in Mina on Dhul-Hijjah 8 to spend the day immersed in supplications for forgiveness and salvation. The vast plains of Mina were filled with pilgrims making their way to the tent city, chanting talbiyah and praising God. This 5-6 day pilgrimage is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, with pilgrims from approximately 180 countries participating this year.

Retracing the tradition of Prophet Muhammad, pilgrims will spend the Day of Tarwiyah in supplications and final preparations before setting off for Arafat, the most important pillar of Hajj, on the following day. Imams at the Two Holy Mosques urged pilgrims to seek forgiveness and perform the rituals of Hajj in piety and obedience. The pilgrimage is a time for unity and spiritual reflection, where all differences dissolve in the journey towards the Lord of the Earth and Heavens.

The pilgrimage also includes special guests, such as 3322 guests of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, including Palestinian pilgrims from families of martyrs, prisoners, and wounded individuals. Syrian pilgrims are also participating in Hajj after a hiatus of 12 years, with special arrangements made for their travel. Around 2000 media representatives from 150 countries are covering the pilgrimage, highlighting the significance and global reach of the event.

The Saudi authorities have made extensive preparations to ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims to Mina, with elaborate arrangements in place for their safety and well-being. This year’s Hajj faces challenges due to sweltering temperatures, prompting the Ministry of Health to issue a heat advisory for pilgrims. The intense heat in Makkah poses a significant health risk, and pilgrims are advised to take precautions such as carrying an umbrella, seeking shade, and staying hydrated throughout the day.

In conclusion, the annual pilgrimage of Hajj in Mina is a significant event that brings together millions of worshippers from diverse backgrounds to seek forgiveness, unity, and spiritual enlightenment. Despite the challenges posed by extreme heat, pilgrims are urged to take precautions and follow health advisories to ensure a safe and fulfilling journey. The global participation and media coverage of the pilgrimage showcase its importance and impact on a global scale, highlighting the unity and devotion of the Muslim community.
