The Ministry of Labour in Bahrain has announced plans to tackle the country’s unemployment rate of 6.3% by aiming to employ 20,000 Bahrainis and train 10,000 job seekers annually. This initiative was revealed in response to an inquiry from MP Abdulwahed Qarata. The Ministry highlighted the National Plan for Labour Market Regulation (2023- 2026) as the key driver behind these efforts. This plan focuses on aligning education with market demands, strengthening partnerships with the private sector, attracting both domestic and foreign investments to create high-quality job opportunities, and enhancing oversight, regulation, and labor laws.

To assist job seekers, the Ministry is encouraging registration and offering unemployment benefits. Non-university graduates will receive BD150 per month, while university graduates will receive BD200 per month for nine months. This support is aimed at first-time job seekers or those with less than 12 months of work experience. By providing financial assistance to those in need, the Ministry hopes to ease the burden of unemployment and help individuals find meaningful employment opportunities.

The National Plan for Labour Market Regulation (2023- 2026) is designed to address the challenges of unemployment by focusing on various key areas. By aligning education with market demands, the plan aims to ensure that individuals have the necessary skills and qualifications to succeed in the workforce. Additionally, by strengthening partnerships with the private sector, the Ministry hopes to create more job opportunities and attract both domestic and foreign investments. This collaboration between the government and the private sector is essential for fostering economic growth and creating a thriving job market.

One of the key goals of the National Plan for Labour Market Regulation is to enhance oversight, regulation, and labor laws in Bahrain. By implementing effective regulations and policies, the Ministry aims to create a fair and transparent labor market that protects the rights of workers and employers alike. This includes ensuring that labor laws are enforced and that all individuals are treated fairly and with respect in the workplace. By improving regulations and oversight, the Ministry hopes to create a more conducive environment for job creation and economic growth.

Overall, the Ministry of Labour in Bahrain is committed to addressing the issue of unemployment and creating a more vibrant and inclusive job market for Bahrainis. By implementing the National Plan for Labour Market Regulation (2023- 2026), the Ministry aims to provide individuals with the necessary support and resources to find meaningful employment opportunities. Through partnerships with the private sector, attracting investments, and enhancing oversight and regulation, the Ministry hopes to create a more robust and dynamic job market that benefits both job seekers and employers alike. With these initiatives in place, Bahrain is poised to make significant progress in reducing unemployment and fostering economic growth in the years to come.
