The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Doha, Qatar has recently announced new lists of accredited universities for self-funded study. The number of universities certified for self-funded study has now reached 763, including 16 universities in Arab countries. This significant expansion in Arab universities is a positive development, showcasing their academic rankings according to the ministry’s approved academic ranking sites.

In total, there are 16 Arab universities included in the new lists, spread across 6 countries: the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Lebanese Republic, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Kuwait, the Republic of Tunisia, and the Republic of Iraq. These universities have been meticulously classified according to different academic tracks, making it easier for students to find the most suitable institution for their chosen specialization.

The classification system in the new lists includes five tracks: engineering and technology, medicine and biological sciences, natural sciences, law, accounting, education, and social and humanitarian sciences, and management. This clear and organized categorization enables students to navigate their educational options more effectively, guiding them towards their academic goals.

Jaber Al Jaber, Director of the Certification Equivalence Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, highlighted the importance of adhering to the lists according to the specified tracks. It is essential for students to obtain prior approval to study abroad and to ensure that they meet all necessary requirements before registering at universities and commencing their studies.

The responsible approach outlined by Al Jaber is in line with the Cabinet’s decisions to guarantee the equivalence of university degrees post-graduation. This process is vital in ensuring that students receive the appropriate recognition for their academic achievements and can smoothly transition into their chosen career paths. By following the lists of accredited universities for self-funded study, students can make informed decisions about their educational journey and set themselves up for success in their chosen fields.
