The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Sheikh, recently inaugurated design models for mosques with diverse architectural features that represent the identity of different regions of Saudi Arabia. These models were created by the ministry’s Agency for Projects and Maintenance and were showcased at an exhibition in Riyadh. The designs aim to help philanthropists who donate to build mosques by adhering to the Saudi building code and technical guides for mosques, while also incorporating flexibility and simplicity in the design.

The exhibition featured six different design models, named Najdi-Salmani, Southern 1, Southern 2, Hejazi 1, Hejazi 2, and Eastern Province. Each model was designed in three different capacities to accommodate varying sizes of worshipers – 500, 1000, and 1500. The architectural elements were carefully considered to allow for modifications to the space by increasing or decreasing its size. This initiative by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs aims to provide diverse and accommodating mosque designs that cater to the needs of different communities.

Minister Al-Sheikh also met with the engineers overseeing the projects at the Agency for Projects and Maintenance and the ministry’s branches across the Kingdom. He expressed gratitude for the support the ministry receives from the wise leadership to serve, build, and maintain mosques. Serving mosques has been a top priority for the ministry, and efforts have been devoted to the construction, maintenance, restoration, and furnishing of mosques, as well as the appointment and training of imams, preachers, muezzins, and observers to fulfill their duties effectively.

In line with the directives of the wise leadership, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has prioritized the service of mosques and the development of various programs to achieve the aspirations of the community. A workshop has been organized for all engineers in the agency and ministry’s branches in different regions to discuss papers and present final recommendations. This workshop aims to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing among engineers to further improve mosque projects across the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs’ focus on mosque construction and maintenance reflects its commitment to serving the community and promoting religious practices. By providing diverse design models that cater to different regions of Saudi Arabia, the ministry ensures that mosques are not only functional but also symbolic of the cultural identity of the areas they serve. The flexibility in the architectural elements allows for customization based on the specific needs of each community, contributing to a more inclusive and accommodating mosque environment.

Through initiatives like the mosque design models exhibition and workshops for engineers, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs continues to prioritize the development and maintenance of mosques to foster a strong sense of community and religious practice in Saudi Arabia. The support from the wise leadership underscores the importance of serving mosques and ensuring that they remain vital centers for worship and community engagement. By investing in the construction, maintenance, and training of mosque personnel, the ministry is committed to upholding the tradition of mosque building and fostering a culture of religious devotion and community unity.
