The High Appeals Court has granted bail to a man accused of assaulting another individual in a hotel in Juffair pending an appeal of his conviction issued in absentia in 2020. The initial conviction stemmed from an incident in 2019 where the defendant, a Gulf national, was found guilty of striking another individual with a stick, resulting in a 20% permanent disability. The court sentenced the defendant to imprisonment and ordered him to pay a compensation of 5,001 Bahraini dinars to the victim. The incident occurred at a hotel in Juffair when the victim was on his way to the cafe for breakfast and the defendant, allegedly after a dispute, attacked the victim along with a group of individuals, resulting in injuries and a permanent disability.

The defendant’s release on bail allows him the opportunity to challenge the initial conviction and present his defense before the court as the case moves forward with the appeal process. The Public Prosecution had charged the defendant with assault, alleging that he and unknown individuals attacked the victim, causing the injuries described in the medical report which led to a 20% permanent disability. The prosecution claimed that the defendant struck the victim on the head with a weapon. The victim received medical assistance from a bystander and was taken to a hospital where he was diagnosed with a 20% permanent disability due to the injuries sustained during the assault.

The incident, which took place in a hotel in Juffair, involved a dispute over who should take food first, leading to the defendant and his companions assaulting the victim, ultimately resulting in the victim sustaining a permanent disability. The defendant’s bail was issued by the High Appeals Court which is now reviewing the case and will proceed with the appeal process. The defendant’s legal team will have the opportunity to present their defense and challenge the initial conviction as they seek to overturn the ruling against him in absentia in 2020.

The victim’s encounter with the defendant and his companions in the hotel escalated into a physical altercation, with the victim being struck on the head with a stick, leading to serious injuries and a 20% permanent disability. Hotel security intervened and removed the defendant and his companions from the premises, while the victim received immediate medical assistance before being taken to a hospital. A medical report confirmed the extent of the victim’s injuries, resulting in a 20% permanent disability, which formed the basis of the assault charges brought against the defendant by the Public Prosecution.

The defendant’s bail pending the appeal process allows for a fair and thorough review of the case as he seeks to challenge the initial conviction and present his side of the story before the court. The incident in the hotel in Juffair serves as a reminder of the importance of resolving disputes peacefully and avoiding resorting to violence, which can have serious consequences for all parties involved. As the case moves forward with the appeal process, both the prosecution and the defense will have the opportunity to present their arguments and evidence, ultimately leading to a final decision by the court on the defendant’s guilt or innocence in the assault case.
