The General Authority for Competition in Saudi Arabia has taken action against several establishments that have been accused of price manipulation in the breast-milk substitute products sector. The council has initiated an investigation into these allegations and has also imposed legal measures on six other establishments for violating the Saudi Competition Law. The authority has instructed these establishments to correct their violations and comply with the Competition Law and its regulations. Additionally, two firms have requested to settle the cases against them, which the council has agreed to examine.

Furthermore, the council reviewed charges against two establishments in the communications and information technology sector but found insufficient evidence to prove that they had violated the Competition Law. However, charges against four other establishments in the same sector will be investigated for possible violations of the law and its regulations. Additionally, charges against three establishments in the contracting sector have also been brought to the council’s attention for further investigation. The council has also decided to look into violations of the Competition Law by firms in the sector serving Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

In terms of the water desalination and distribution sector, the council has reviewed memorandums containing measures against nine establishments but has decided to end these measures. The council has also reviewed the work of the Settlement Committee, which has received 27 settlement requests from establishments violating the Competition Law. Among these requests, 10 have been submitted by establishments in the automotive sector. The council has authorized the CEO of the authority to accept settlement requests and to file criminal cases against establishments that do not reach an amicable agreement through settlement.

Overall, the General Authority for Competition is dedicated to upholding the Competition Law in Saudi Arabia and taking action against establishments that violate these regulations. By investigating charges of price manipulation, collusion, and other violations, the council aims to ensure fair competition in various sectors of the economy. Through legal measures, settlement requests, and the review of violations in different sectors, the council is committed to promoting a competitive business environment in the Kingdom. With a focus on compliance and adherence to the Competition Law, the authority seeks to maintain a level playing field for all businesses and protect consumers from anti-competitive practices.
