The oil tanker Prestige Falcon capsized off the coast of Oman on July 15, prompting a major rescue operation involving the Indian Navy. The Maritime Security Centre of Oman reported that nine crew members were rescued alive, while unfortunately, one crew member was found dead. The search and rescue efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining crew members of the vessel.

The Indian Navy’s warship INS Teg played a crucial role in the rescue operation, assisting in the recovery of nine crew members from the capsized oil tanker. The mission also involved coordination with Oman authorities to ensure the safety of all crew members on board. Despite facing challenging weather conditions with rough seas and strong winds, the search and rescue operations continue with the support of Indian and Omani assets.

The oil tanker capsized about 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah, Oman, with a total of 16 crew members on board, including 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans. The successful rescue of nine crew members, including eight Indians and one Sri Lankan national, highlights the collaborative efforts of multiple agencies involved in the operation. The Indian Navy’s Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft P8I is also assisting in the search for any remaining survivors.

The Indian Embassy in Oman has been actively involved in providing updates on the rescue effort, maintaining constant communication with Omani authorities. With the latest update confirming the rescue of nine crew members, including eight Indians, the search and rescue operation is still ongoing to locate any remaining survivors. The joint efforts of various agencies and organizations demonstrate a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in the maritime incident.

The successful rescue of nine crew members from the capsized oil tanker Prestige Falcon is a testament to the swift and effective response of the Indian Navy and other agencies involved in the operation. Despite facing adverse weather conditions, the search and rescue efforts continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of all crew members on board. The collaborative efforts between Indian and Omani authorities highlight the importance of international cooperation in times of crisis.

Moving forward, the focus remains on locating any remaining crew members of the capsized oil tanker and ensuring their safe recovery. The dedication and commitment of all personnel involved in the search and rescue operation underscore the importance of timely and coordinated efforts to respond to maritime emergencies. With ongoing support from various agencies and organizations, the hope is to bring all crew members to safety and prevent any further loss of life in the aftermath of the tragic incident off the coast of Oman.
