The College of Public Policy at Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the International Organization for Migration have formed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding aimed at collaborating on policy issues related to migration. This partnership will involve the development of capacity-building programs, seminars, and training that focus on the various aspects of migration and its connection to development in Qatar. Additionally, the organizations will explore training programs for both professionals and the community, as well as support student research projects centered on migration.

The collaboration between CPP and IOM will involve sharing expertise through guest appearances, conferences, and collaborative projects. Both organizations have agreed to exchange strategies, tools, reports, and methodologies to enhance migration projects and policy research. This collaboration seeks to ensure the initiatives are comprehensive and effective, benefiting both Qatar and the region. Dr. Leslie A. Pal, Professor and Dean of CPP, highlighted the significance of collaborating with IOM to address migration issues in Qatar and the region.

In line with their partnership, the IOM and CPP recently organized the #TogetherinQatar Art Competition Awards Ceremony, sponsored by Lulu. The event, held at the UN House on May 30, showcased the creative artworks of 21 young students from prestigious schools in Qatar. The competition emphasized the theme of togetherness through artistic expression, fostering emotional connections through the students’ artwork. These artworks will also be featured at the CPP’s Future of Summit: Hadaba Edition in September 2024.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Public Policy plays a crucial role in supporting effective policy development for the implementation of the Qatar National Vision 2030. The College strives to be a leading public policy school in the region and globally, serving as a hub for innovative policy solutions across various issues. The collaboration between CPP and IOM reflects their commitment to addressing migration challenges and promoting awareness through education and artistic expression.

In conclusion, the partnership between Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Public Policy and the International Organization for Migration signifies a significant step towards addressing migration issues in Qatar and the region. Through collaborative efforts, these organizations aim to develop effective policy solutions, training programs, and research initiatives that contribute to the development of comprehensive migration projects. Events like the #TogetherinQatar Art Competition highlight the importance of raising awareness about migration issues and fostering a sense of togetherness through artistic expression. As they continue to work together, CPP and IOM are poised to make a positive impact on migration policy and research in Qatar.
