The General Directorate of Traffic in Bahrain has issued an advisory regarding vehicular circulation and necessary diversions for the upcoming Arab Summit on Wednesday and Thursday. To effectively manage traffic during the 33rd Arab Summit, certain roads will be temporarily closed during the morning and evening hours on May 15 and 16. This includes routes starting at Bahrain International Airport, Khalifa Al Kabeer Highway, Al-Ghous Street, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Bridge, King Faisal Highway, Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway, and into the Seef District. Traffic will then head south towards Zallaq and the Sakhir Palace roundabout.
To ensure smooth traffic flow during the summit, alternative routes have been provided for citizens and residents. In the Southern and Northern Governorates, Jaber Al-Sabah Street, Sheikh Salman Highway, and Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Highway towards the capital are open. Residents of the Capital Governorate can use Al Fateh Highway, Government Avenue, and internal streets. In the Muharraq Governorate, alternatives include Khalifa Bin Salman Bridge, Dry Dock Highway, Arad Highway, Rayya Highway, Sheikh Salman Highway, and Sheikh Hamad Bridge.
For residents of Busaiteen and surrounding areas, Sheikh Hamad Bridge is available, while Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Bridge is a suitable alternative for those in Samaheej, Qalali, Al-Dair, Arad, and Al-Hidd. These measures are intended to maintain orderly and uninterrupted vehicle flow during the summit. Road closures may be enacted when necessary, with traffic police on hand to aid traffic movement and prioritize emergency and ambulance services.
The General Directorate of Traffic urges road users to support this initiative by following instructions and guidelines from traffic authorities for smooth traffic flow. It is recommended to limit non-essential travel and stay informed with updates and announcements from the administration for the latest directions. By cooperating with traffic authorities and utilizing alternative routes, residents and citizens can help ensure a successful and safe 33rd Arab Summit in Bahrain.
