The Kingdom of Bahrain has successfully completed the third phase of its national afforestation campaign, “Stay Green,” resulting in the planting of 40,043 trees and shrubs across various locations throughout the country. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture, the Supreme Council for the Environment, and other stakeholders from the public and private sectors, has seen the completion of 47 afforestation projects. H.E. Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, the Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, expressed her appreciation for all participants involved in this ambitious project.
The success of the “Stay Green” campaign reflects the commitment of Bahrain to combat climate challenges and strive towards achieving net zero emissions by 2060, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain. The campaign was launched under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Wife of His Majesty the King, and the Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, which garnered widespread participation and support from citizens across the kingdom.
The significant impact of the campaign can be seen in the planting of over 40,000 trees and shrubs across 14,243 square meters and 7,463 linear meters, enhancing the green spaces and natural landscapes of Bahrain.
