The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan recently announced the recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2024, and Dr. Abdulrahman A. Hussain Jawahery, Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Refining and former President of Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (GPIC), was recognized as one of this year’s esteemed awardees. Dr. Jawahery was honored for his exceptional efforts in promoting Japanese culture in Bahrain and strengthening the ties between Japan and Bahrain. One of his notable achievements was the establishment of the Bahrain-Japan Friendship Garden, which commemorates His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s historic first official visit to Japan in 2012. The garden, located in the Al-Areen Wildlife Park and opened in 2015, has become a symbol of cultural exchange and bilateral relations, with its inauguration attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa and other dignitaries.

In addition to the Friendship Garden, Dr. Jawahery has played a key role in advancing collaborations between Japanese companies and GPIC. His strong partnerships with leading Japanese firms have resulted in transformative projects, such as the implementation of carbon capture technology from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries almost twenty years ago. He has also been a driving force behind the adoption of advanced technology from JGC for a large-scale urea resin plant, as well as the integration of engineering solutions from Yokogawa to enhance production efficiency within Bahraini enterprises. Dr. Jawahery’s efforts have not only benefited GPIC but have also contributed to the overall development and sustainability of Bahrain’s industrial sector.

Dr. Jawahery’s commitment to fostering stronger ties between Japan and Bahrain extends beyond his professional endeavors. He has been actively involved in various cultural and educational initiatives to promote Japanese traditions and enhance mutual understanding between the two countries. His dedication to promoting cultural exchange has reinforced the longstanding relationship between Japan and Bahrain, creating opportunities for dialogue and cooperation in various fields. As a respected figure in both the Bahraini and Japanese business communities, Dr. Jawahery has served as a bridge between the two nations, facilitating partnerships and collaborations that have contributed to economic growth and development.

The recognition of Dr. Jawahery by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan underscores the significance of his contributions to promoting friendship and cooperation between Japan and Bahrain. His leadership and commitment to enhancing bilateral relations have not only strengthened the economic ties between the two countries but have also fostered a deeper cultural understanding and appreciation. As a recipient of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation, Dr. Jawahery’s achievements serve as a testament to the positive impact of his work in bridging communities and promoting mutual respect and cooperation on a global scale.

In conclusion, Dr. Abdulrahman A. Hussain Jawahery’s recognition as a recipient of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY 2024 highlights his exceptional contributions to promoting Japanese culture in Bahrain and strengthening the bonds between Japan and Bahrain. His efforts in establishing the Bahrain-Japan Friendship Garden and advancing collaborations between Japanese companies and GPIC have been instrumental in fostering cultural exchange and enhancing economic partnerships. Dr. Jawahery’s dedication to promoting friendship and cooperation between Japan and Bahrain serves as a shining example of the positive impact of cross-cultural initiatives and the importance of building strong and sustainable relationships on an international level.
