A groundbreaking project at Salmaniya Park, tailored for people of determination, has been completed.
This was announced by Eng. Muhammad Saad Al-Sahli, Director General of the Capital Municipality, who noted that Salmaniya Park has been equipped with modern toys designed to accommodate their needs, ensuring equal recreational opportunities alongside fellow members of society.
People of determination (POD) is a term used in clinical diagnosis and functional development to describe people who have disabilities that limit their intellectual and/or physical abilities.
Meanwhile, the inauguration of the initiative at Salmaniya Park, spanning 650 square metres, witnessed the presence of Mr. Tariq Ali AlJowder, CEO of Bahrain Parking Company, and other officials.
Eng. Al-Sahli emphasised the municipality’s commitment to inclusivity, affirming that people of determination are integral to Bahraini society.
The project, supported by Makan Bahrain Parking Company, underscores this belief by providing tailored recreational facilities.
Specialised games catering to different age groups of people of determination have been meticulously designed, featuring a rubber floor with safety measures meeting international standards.
Eng. Al-Sahli highlighted previous initiatives at the Sitra Bridge walkway and Umm Al Hassam Park, with plans for further integration in major parks.
Salmaniya Park’s selection for this project is strategic, given its space, location, and proximity to the Bahraini Society for Parents and Friends of the Disabled’s entertainment centre.
The initiative receives commendation from Al-Jowder as a testament to societal responsibility. Al-Jowder underscores the park’s strategic importance and the municipality’s efforts to foster inclusivity in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
The initiative reflects a collective commitment to social integration, ensuring that people of determination enjoy recreational facilities on par with their peers, contributing to sustainable development goals and Bahrain’s vision for the future.
