Kasaragod District Pravasi Association (KDPA) in Bahrain, a community of residents from Kasaragod in Kerala, India, is preparing for a grand celebration of Onam 2024 titled ‘Unnirajinu Opparam’ (Along with Unni Raja) on September 20th at the BMC. The event will feature popular film star from Unni Raja, known for his role in the TV show ‘Marimayam’, as the chief guest. The celebration will include a traditional Onasadya feast and various artistic performances showcasing the cultural heritage of the association’s members.
The official poster for the event was recently launched at the K City Business Center in Manama, where it was handed over to President Rajesh Kodoth, Shafi Paarakkatta, and Salim Thalangara, signaling the start of the event preparations. The launch event saw the participation of prominent members of the association, including General Secretary Rajeev Vellikoth, Treasurer Nasser T, Joint Secretary Mani Maangad, Entertainment Secretary Haris Uliyathadukka, and others. Representatives from KDPA’s women’s wing, Ajitha Rajesh and Shamshad Abdul Rahman, also took part in the event, with Manikandan Maangad offering a vote of thanks.
In addition to the Onam celebrations, KDPA members finalized plans to operate a food stall called ‘Nammal Kasrottukaar’ at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam’s Onam festivities, Shraavanam 2024, to showcase the community’s culinary skills. This initiative will highlight the culinary prowess of the community and allow members to participate in the food fair alongside other activities planned for the event.
