The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain conducted 750 inspection campaigns and visits between August 4th and 10th, 2024, resulting in the apprehension of 55 workers for violating labor regulations and working illegally. Additionally, 196 individuals were deported during the same period. The inspections revealed various violations of laws, particularly the LMRA Law and the Bahrain Residence Law, leading to legal action being taken against those found in breach of regulations.
During the inspection period, the LMRA conducted 734 inspections across commercial establishments in all governorates. There were also 16 joint inspection campaigns carried out, with 10 in the Capital Governorate, two in Muharraq Governorate, three in the Northern Governorate, and one in the Southern Governorate. These joint efforts involved various government agencies, including the Ministry of Interior and the Security Directorates in the governorates, aiming to ensure compliance with labor regulations and maintain the stability of the labor market.
The LMRA highlighted its ongoing coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection campaigns across all governorates, in order to combat any violations or practices that could negatively impact the labor market’s stability, competitiveness, or the economic and social security of the Kingdom. The authority emphasized the importance of community support in addressing illegal practices in the labor market and combating irregular employment, for the protection of society as a whole.
To facilitate reporting of labor market violations or irregular employment, the LMRA encouraged the public to use the dedicated online form on its official website, the national suggestions and complaints system (Tawasul), or contact the LMRA’s call center at 17506055. By reporting violations, community members can contribute to maintaining a fair and compliant labor market, supporting the efforts of government agencies in ensuring a level playing field for all workers and businesses in Bahrain.
The LMRA’s continued efforts to enforce labor regulations and combat irregular employment reflect the government’s commitment to upholding the rights of workers and maintaining a stable and fair labor market. By conducting regular inspections and joint campaigns across various governorates, the authority aims to deter violations and ensure that businesses and workers operate within the legal framework, contributing to the overall economic and social security of the Kingdom.
In conclusion, the LMRA’s recent inspection campaigns and joint efforts with other government agencies demonstrate a proactive approach to addressing labor market violations and combating irregular employment in Bahrain. The authority’s call for community support in reporting violations underscores the importance of collective efforts in upholding labor laws and ensuring a level playing field for all workers. By working together, government agencies and community members can help create a fair and compliant labor market that benefits both workers and businesses in the Kingdom.
