This financial assistance, provided by the government, aims to help individuals with low incomes cover their living expenses, subject to specific eligibility criteria. The Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Information and eGovernment Authority and other key agencies, manages the distribution of these funds.
Starting from January 2022, the levels of financial aid for low-income families have risen. Support is now set at 110 dinars for the first category, which includes incomes ranging from 0 to 300 dinars; 77 dinars for the second category, for incomes between 301 and 700 dinars; and 55 dinars for the third category, covering incomes from 701 to 1000 dinars. Registration for these programs is facilitated through the registration and social assistance departments at various social centres across Bahrain.
Disability allowances are provided based on specific eligibility criteria outlined in a ministerial order. These include physical, intellectual, visual, and hearing impairments, as well as conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, and multiple disabilities. The Ministry of Social Development ensures that individuals with disabilities receive the support they need, in line with the government’s commitment to aiding vulnerable members of society.
In recent months, the Ministry has seen a notable increase in the number of families and individuals seeking financial assistance, indicating a growing need for support among the population. The government’s efforts to expand and enhance these programs reflect its commitment to ensuring the well-being of all citizens, particularly those facing economic challenges. By providing essential aid to those in need, the Ministry of Social Development plays a crucial role in promoting social welfare and inclusivity in Bahrain.
Overall, the rise in enrollment in various financial assistance programs highlights the importance of government support in addressing the needs of vulnerable individuals and families. By expanding access to these programs and increasing the levels of aid provided, the Ministry of Social Development is working to create a more equitable and inclusive society for all Bahraini citizens. Through collaborative efforts with key agencies and continuous assessment of eligibility criteria, the Ministry strives to ensure that those in need receive the assistance they require to maintain a decent standard of living and improve their quality of life.
