The Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) hosted its Eighth event of the Thirst Quenchers 2024 program on Saturday, 24 August 2024 in Tubli. This annual summer awareness initiative aims to promote a safe working environment during the hot months of July and August. The program aligns with the Ministry of Labour’s efforts to ensure the well-being of workers in extreme heat conditions. Approximately 300 workers were provided with bottled water, Laban, fruits, and emergency contact flyers at the worksite to help them stay hydrated and healthy.
The primary goal of the Thirst Quenchers program is to raise awareness about maintaining health and safety during the summer months. Workers, especially those most affected by the intense heat, are targeted for support through the distribution of essential items. In addition to providing hydration and fruits, the ICRF team aims to educate workers on the importance of staying hydrated and taking precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses. By collaborating with various organizations and volunteers, the initiative continues to make a positive impact on the community.
During the event, key speakers such as Mr. Hussain Al Hussaini from the Ministry of Labour, Ms Zainab Akbar Hajeeh from LMRA, and Ms Erika Broers from IOM addressed the workers and assisted in distributing items. Their presence underscored the importance of occupational safety and the collective effort to ensure the well-being of workers. The support and involvement of the Bohra community and dedicated volunteers have been instrumental in the success of the Thirst Quenchers program. Moving forward, the ICRF team plans to host weekly events at different worksites for the next three weeks to further extend their impact and reach within the community.
As part of the ongoing efforts to promote a safe working environment, the ICRF Thirst Quenchers program continues to play a vital role in ensuring the welfare of workers during the summer months. By providing essential items such as water, Laban, and fruits, the program addresses the immediate needs of workers and educates them on the importance of hydration in preventing heat-related illnesses. The collaboration with government agencies, volunteers, and community partners enhances the impact of the initiative and reinforces the message of collective responsibility towards worker safety.
The commitment of the ICRF team to raising awareness about summer health and safety is evident in their continued efforts to support workers in need. With the support of key stakeholders and volunteers, the Thirst Quenchers program has made a positive impact on the well-being of workers in the community. Through outreach activities at various worksites, the team aims to empower workers with knowledge and resources to safeguard their health during extreme heat conditions. By working together with different organizations, the program strives to create a safer and healthier working environment for all individuals involved.
