Khalifa University graduation 2026: Two-day commencement at ADNEC

Khalifa University graduation 2026 took place over two days, June 17–18, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) as part of a formal commencement attended by senior leaders. The ceremony, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and presided over by Sheikh Dhiyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan, conferred degrees on 1,066 graduates.

Who graduated, when and where

The Khalifa University graduation 2026 cohort comprised 742 bachelor’s degree recipients, 91 master’s graduates, 193 doctoral degree holders and 40 graduates awarded the Doctor of Medicine. The ceremony brought together members of the university board, academic and administrative staff, families and invited dignitaries, according to university officials. The two-day event highlighted both individual achievements and institutional milestones.

University leadership and official remarks

Sheikh Dhiyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan delivered remarks noting that Khalifa University’s academic and research excellence reflects the UAE’s vision for a knowledge-driven economy. Professor Ibrahim Al Hajri, the university president, thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for sustained support and credited students, faculty and staff for the institution’s advancing role in higher education and research in the UAE.

Academic recognition and global rankings

The ceremony coincided with a notable advancement in international standings: Khalifa University rose to 147th place in the QS World University Rankings 2027, moving up 30 positions from the previous year, the university reported. Additionally, Khalifa was again ranked the top university in the UAE by subject for the ninth consecutive year in the QS by Subject 2026 listings, with three disciplines placed among the global top 100 and three other programs within the top 150.

Research achievements tied to national priorities

Officials emphasized that graduates participated in research aligned with national priorities in health care, food security, cybersecurity, sustainable energy and advanced technology. Students contributed to projects such as a maternal and child health initiative, work on the UAE Reference Genome, and the development of AI-assisted solutions for agriculture. Furthermore, teams advanced cybersecurity tools, drone identification systems and sustainable desalination technologies.

Innovation ecosystem and startup support

As part of its technology transfer and innovation agenda, Khalifa University continued to develop applied research programs in agri-tech supported by artificial intelligence, advanced materials including graphene, and related fields. The university said its Projects Company, the technology transfer arm, supported more than 60 start-ups during the year, helping translate campus research into commercial ventures that can serve regional and global markets.

Graduate perspectives and student-led initiatives

Graduates highlighted hands-on research and multidisciplinary collaboration as defining aspects of their education. In remarks delivered on behalf of the class, a biomedical engineering graduate described the campus as a launchpad where ideas became practical solutions. Many students also participated in community initiatives that reflect national values and the UAE’s Year of the Family, officials noted, demonstrating the social impact of university-led projects.

Impact on UAE higher education and industry links

The university’s progress reinforces its growing role in UAE higher education, offering human capital and research capacity for public and private sector priorities. Industry partners and government agencies cited Khalifa graduates as potential contributors to the workforce in AI, energy, healthcare and advanced engineering. Analysts say sustained investment in research and curriculum alignment with market needs are likely to boost employability for the Class of 2026.

What to watch next

Stakeholders will be watching how Khalifa University graduates translate academic experience into measurable outcomes across priority sectors. Observers expect follow-up announcements on industry placements, new research partnerships and additional startup spin-offs over the coming year. Officials also pointed to the next QS ranking update and prospective program accreditations as indicators of continued progress.

Conclusion and forward look

The Khalifa University graduation 2026 marked a convergence of academic accomplishment and institutional advancement, underscored by a notable rise in global rankings and ongoing alignment with national objectives. Going forward, readers should watch for graduate career placements, published research stemming from the Class of 2026, and evolving collaborations between the university, industry and government through 2027.
