Dubai Launches “Yumak” Initiative for Senior Citizens
Dubai Health Authority has unveiled the “Yumak” initiative as part of the city’s efforts to enhance the quality of life for senior citizens. Launched under the “City Builders” initiative, directed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the project aims to consolidate healthcare, social support, housing, and transportation services tailored for citizens aged 60 and above.
The announcement took place at Emirates Towers, attended by prominent officials including Abdullah Al Basti, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council, and Dr. Awad Al Sheik Ali, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority.
Services Offered through the Yumak Initiative
The “Yumak” initiative presents a comprehensive suite of services designed to respond to the real and expressed needs of Dubai’s older population. Among these offerings are home health care services, which include doctor visits, nursing care, dental services, and physical therapy, in addition to the delivery of medications and medical supplies.
Dubai Health Authority will oversee and organize the healthcare services, while private entity Al Midhala Healthcare Management will provide in-home nursing and medical equipment to qualified beneficiaries. The authority and participating agencies will also conduct training programs for family members and caregivers, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-quality care.
Community and Transportation Support
In addition to healthcare, the “Yumak” initiative incorporates essential housing services. Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment will assess the housing needs of older citizens and make necessary adjustments to their homes. According to Mohammed Hassan Al Shahi, Executive Director of the establishment, the initiative reflects their commitment to ensuring a safer and more comfortable living environment for senior residents.
Further supporting senior citizens, Dubai Ambulance will facilitate non-emergency patient transport services between their homes and healthcare facilities, particularly for those with limited mobility. This initiative not only emphasizes the importance of accessibility but also demonstrates Dubai’s broader commitment to enhancing the health and welfare of its older citizens.
Enhancing Quality of Life for Seniors
Officials emphasize that the “Yumak” initiative represents a concerted effort to honor and improve the lives of senior citizens in Dubai. Dr. Awad Al Sheik Ali highlighted the importance of proactive and interconnected services tailored to the unique needs of this demographic. According to officials, these initiatives reflect the city’s dedication to empowering seniors to live with confidence and dignity, promoting initiatives that enhance health and preventative care.
Addtionally, Hessa Bint Issa Bouhamid, General Director of the Community Development Authority, noted that the program underscores the commitment to maintaining the status of older citizens and appreciating their contributions to society.
Future Outlook and Community Impact
As the “Yumak” initiative unfolds, it is expected to significantly impact the quality of life for Dubai’s elderly residents by making essential services more accessible and user-friendly. This initiative will not only fulfill the current needs but also pave the way for future enhancements in the supportive ecosystem surrounding senior citizens in Dubai.
In conclusion, the “Yumak” initiative stands as a testament to Dubai’s commitment to the welfare of its senior citizens. Moving forward, stakeholders and community members should monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the service offerings, ensuring ongoing support for an aging population within the emirate. As the initiative progresses, insights and feedback will play a crucial role in shaping its evolution, ensuring it remains aligned with the needs and expectations of its beneficiaries.
