Dubai Health Authority Board Discusses New Healthcare Projects

In a recent meeting led by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Health Authority, the board reviewed significant updates on the construction of the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital and the new Diabetes Center. This meeting took place at the headquarters of Dubai Health Authority, with the participation of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Chairman, and various other board members.

The board expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital project, which includes updates on the construction activities and the development of global partnerships aimed at enhancing the hospital’s services. A key leadership position overseeing cancer patient care has also been established.

Impact of the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital

The establishment of the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital represents a significant advancement in Dubai’s healthcare infrastructure. This facility will provide comprehensive care in line with the highest international standards, catering to the needs of patients and their families while improving their treatment experiences.

Additionally, the board reviewed the latest developments regarding the new Diabetes Center, approved back in November 2024 and set to open in early next year. The center aims to bolster preventive measures against diabetes, enhance treatment programs to mitigate complications, and raise community awareness regarding early detection and healthy lifestyle practices.

Strategic Vision and Future Collaborations

Throughout the meeting, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum welcomed the board members, commending their dedication to strategic projects that further the objectives of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040. This plan focuses on developing healthy and vibrant communities while accommodating the city’s rapid growth.

He stated, “Developing healthcare infrastructure is a strategic priority to address the swift growth experienced in Dubai. It is essential to meet future population needs in alignment with our leadership’s vision for a comprehensive and sustainable health system that prioritizes human health and quality of life.”

In a similar vein, Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized the commitment to nurturing a comprehensive academic health framework that integrates healthcare, medical education, and scientific research. This initiative aims to foster an innovative environment that facilitates the development of specialized medical talents and supports practical applications of scientific research to improve patient outcomes.

Memorandum of Understanding for Employee Housing Services

Following the board meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Dubai Health Authority and the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment. This agreement aims to enhance cooperation to simplify housing services available to Dubai Health Authority employees, thereby improving their overall experience.

The MoU is designed to attract talented young nationals to the healthcare sector in Dubai, thereby addressing both their professional and familial stability. By fostering a supportive work environment, the agreement aims to empower employees to play a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare in Dubai.

Commitment to Improving Employee Well-being

Mohammed Hassan Al Shihhi, Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment, stated that this MoU reflects the foundation’s commitment to strengthening collaborations with Dubai’s governmental entities. The focus is on providing comprehensive housing solutions that meet the needs of employees and enhance their family and social lives.

He added, “We believe that offering affordable housing solutions is crucial for supporting national talents and attracting new skills while contributing to a stable and motivating work environment.” The aim is to streamline access to available housing services through simplifying procedures and providing direct communication channels for inquiries and workshops that highlight opportunities and initiatives beneficial to employees.

Future Developments and Community Focus

The Executive Director of Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Amer Sharif, expressed that the organization is committed to building effective partnerships that enhance the well-being and stability of its employees. The objective remains to provide a supportive and motivating work environment that recognizes the needs of its workforce. The authority also values the cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment and anticipates that this agreement will lead to improvements in employee experiences and quality of life.

Looking ahead, the next expected milestones include finalizing construction phases for both the Hamdan bin Rashid Cancer Hospital and the new Diabetes Center within the project timelines. As these initiatives move forward, they signify Dubai Health Authority’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare standards and community health outcomes in the emirate.
