Dubai Ambulance Introduces Innovations at EMS World Expo 2026
The Dubai Ambulance Foundation, known as Dubai Ambulance, announced its participation in the EMS World Expo 2026, taking place from September 30 to October 2 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The foundation will showcase its latest innovation, “Sund,” a multifunctional support unit designed for off-road scenarios, enhancing emergency response capabilities in challenging locations.
“Sund” began as a conceptual idea by Dubai Ambulance and materialized into a fully operational vehicle through collaboration with several manufacturing partners, including TORSUS, FERNO, Bristol, Frestems, Whelen, Acetech, and UXE.
Showcasing “Sund” and Its Capabilities
Visitors at the EMS World Expo will have the opportunity to explore “Sund” and its extensive features through daily demonstrations at the FERNO booth. FERNO, a global leader in emergency medical equipment, played a crucial role in developing the integrated medical cabin of the vehicle.
Designed to improve access and response in various circumstances, “Sund” meets the needs of a diverse range of emergency scenarios, far surpassing traditional ambulance capabilities. It combines advanced field capabilities enabling access to patients in hard-to-reach areas, including mountainous terrains and disaster zones, along with a fully equipped medical compartment that allows for intensive care upon arrival.
Enhancing Emergency Response Efficiency
“Sund” significantly boosts the efficiency of emergency and disaster response teams by reaching areas inaccessible to standard ambulances. This improvement facilitates quicker patient access in various situations, whether due to geographical challenges, large-scale incidents, or natural disasters.
The vehicle accommodates up to 14 individuals, including two patients on stretchers, and includes intelligent monitoring and equipment management systems. This integration enables it to function as a comprehensive field medical unit, transforming its role from merely transporting patients to accelerating critical care in time-sensitive situations.
A Milestone Reflecting Dubai’s Vision
The development of “Sund” exemplifies the “Dubai Actions” initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2016, aimed at rapidly translating ambitious ideas into tangible achievements without compromising on execution quality. “Sund” has swiftly transitioned from a visionary idea to a fully equipped operational vehicle, highlighting Dubai Ambulance’s capacity to implement effective solutions that enhance emergency response systems.
Collaboration Leading to Innovative Solutions
The creation and preparation of “Sund” involved extensive collaboration with a variety of specialized global companies, each contributing its expertise and technologies in essential vehicle components. This partnership resulted in a comprehensive set of capabilities and features for “Sund,” including a permanent four-wheel drive, electronically adjustable air suspension, military-grade loading specifications, advanced intelligent lighting, tracking systems, and equipment management. These elements combine to ensure both field readiness and advanced medical functionality.
Looking Ahead: Future Developments in Emergency Services
The unveiling of “Sund” at the EMS World Expo signifies a leap forward in Dubai’s ambulance services and showcases the city’s commitment to innovation and the implementation of cutting-edge emergency medical response solutions. As industry experts and attendees explore this new vehicle, anticipation builds for potential adaptations and enhancements that could emerge from these discussions.
As the foundation continues to evolve and implement new technologies, stakeholders can expect to see further advancements in emergency medical response that prioritize efficiency, adaptability, and the highest standards of patient care. Looking forward, developments stemming from this expo may influence emergency services worldwide, setting new benchmarks for future innovations.
