Overview of the Fourth Orientation Program for New Teachers in Dhofar

The General Directorate of Education in Dhofar has successfully completed the fourth orientation program for new teachers for the academic year 2026/2027. The event, attended by Hamid bin Bakheet Al-Mashiakhi, the Assistant Director-General for Educational Affairs and Support Programs, included several officials and specialists from the directorate. This initiative aims to prepare and equip new educators for their roles within the educational environment.

The program featured various workshops and presentations focused on administrative, educational, psychological, and pedagogical aspects relevant to school work. Notable presentations included “Rights and Duties of Employees” by Ali bin Hamad Al-Amri, and “Daily and Weekly Planning” by Mona bint Said Al-Rawasi. These sessions addressed essential topics which are fundamental for new teachers as they embark on their careers.

Key Workshops and Presentations

The orientation program included a broad spectrum of topics designed to enhance teachers’ understanding and skills. On the first day, Majid bin Ahmad Al-Rawasi discussed “Psychological Support in Classroom Environments,” which emphasized the importance of emotional well-being in educational settings. Furthermore, Fahm bin Khalfan Al-Shuhimi reviewed “Emergency Management,” underscoring the strategies for handling unexpected situations that may arise in schools. Additionally, Said bin Hamad Al-Rubaie presented on “Mathematics Curricula and Philosophy of Teaching,” providing insights into effective teaching methodologies.

On the second day of the program, participants engaged in sessions discussing the integration of modern platforms and technologies within education. These workshops highlighted the significance of technological implementation in supporting the learning process and improving classroom practices. A key presentation entitled “Educational Supervision in Omani Schools (Supervisory Visits)” focused on the role of educational oversight in enhancing teachers’ professional development through constructive feedback and support.

Objectives and Implications of the Program

The primary objective of the orientation program is to prepare new teachers for integration into the educational system, ensuring they understand the regulations and professional responsibilities involved. This includes equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for efficient performance in their teaching roles. By participating in this program, teachers gain essential insights which can significantly enhance their readiness for the upcoming academic year.

Moreover, the program addresses continuous assessment tools for measuring student learning, along with discussions on curricular topics led by Hilal bin Salem Al-Mahri and Ahmed bin Musab Al-Jabri. By covering diverse areas such as continuous assessment practices and English language curricula, the program seeks to create well-rounded educators capable of addressing the difficulties and expectations within modern classrooms.

Looking Forward

In conclusion, the successful completion of the fourth orientation program for new teachers marks a significant step in enhancing the educational landscape in Dhofar. As educators prepare to embark on a new academic year, the insights gained from this program will play a pivotal role in cultivating a supportive learning environment for students. Stakeholders can anticipate additional training sessions and professional development initiatives in the coming months, further fostering the capacity of teachers and enhancing the overall quality of education in the region.
