Results of the “Afkarna” Initiative Announced
The Wilaya of Nizwa announced the results of the inaugural “Afkarna” initiative, which targeted employees of the office and the Municipality of Nizwa. This initiative aimed to harness employee suggestions for improving the work environment, simplifying procedures, and enhancing the efficiency and quality of services provided to beneficiaries. It focused on practical ideas that can be implemented at minimal costs.
Sheikh Mahmoud bin Rashid Al Saadi, the Wali of Nizwa, emphasized the importance of involving employees in the development of government work systems at the local level. Their familiarity with daily operations equips them to identify challenges and propose suitable solutions. He noted that allowing staff to present their suggestions fosters a culture of initiative and shared responsibility for service improvement.
Key Features of the Initiative
The initiative highlighted the significance of transforming employee proposals into actionable solutions. Al Saadi stressed the need to evaluate outstanding ideas and build on them, leveraging the collaboration between the Wali’s office and the Municipality of Nizwa to enhance work methodologies and improve services for citizens.
“Afkarna” encompassed four main pillars: improving the work environment and productivity, reducing costs and expenses, automating procedures and digital transformation, and enhancing the quality of services for beneficiaries. This framework enabled employees to submit developmental ideas closely related to the competencies of both the office and the municipality.
Evaluation Process and Results Announcement
The assessment of submitted proposals was based on several criteria, primarily their feasibility and relevance to the workplace environment. Preference was given to suggestions aligned with the “zero-cost” principle. An independent committee composed of three members evaluated the ideas according to the established criteria.
The final ceremony of the initiative was held under the patronage of Ahmed bin Salim Al Tuobi, the Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs in the Interior Governorate. The event was attended by various officials who announced the results and honored the top five contributors. This recognition was in appreciation of their suggestions and contributions to practical solutions for enhancing institutional performance.
Implications for Future Development
The “Afkarna” initiative is poised to have lasting implications on the operational efficiency of government services in Nizwa. It signifies a step forward in collaborative governance, where employee-driven ideas can lead to meaningful changes. Moreover, the initiative encourages a proactive approach among employees, fostering an environment where their insights are valued and utilized effectively.
As Nizwa continues to seek improvement in its public services, next steps will likely include the implementation of the viable suggestions from the initiative. Stakeholders and citizens can look forward to witnessing the positive transformations that these employee contributions will inspire in the coming months.
