University of the Arabian Gulf Hosts Gulf Red Crescent Day 2026
This Thursday morning, the University of the Arabian Gulf is organizing the event “Gulf Red Crescent Day 2026” on its campus. The initiative aims to enhance awareness of the importance of first aid, foster a culture of volunteerism, and encourage youth participation in humanitarian and community initiatives.
The event is part of the university’s commitment to strengthen its community responsibility and connect academic knowledge with practical application. Through interactive stations, participants will learn about humanitarian principles and gain essential skills for responding to emergencies, emphasizing proper actions that can contribute to saving lives and reducing risks.
Interactive Stations Promote First Aid Skills
The event, organized by the university’s Institutional Communication Center, features four main interactive stations. One of these is “One Minute to Save a Life,” which focuses on teaching cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) under the supervision of the simulation center. Additionally, the “Gulf Rescuer Challenge” allows students to test their knowledge and skills through virtual first aid scenarios.
Another station, “Red Crescent Corner,” partnered with the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, aims to introduce the principles of humanitarian work and the importance of volunteering. The fourth interactive area, “Do You Know How to Act?” presents situations simulating emergency cases, encouraging students to choose appropriate responses and assess their reactions, with participation from Medical Doctorate program students and those studying Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Emergency Medical Services.
Importance of First Aid Awareness and Community Responsibility
Dr. Saad bin Saud Al-Fuhayd, President of the University of the Arabian Gulf, emphasized that spreading awareness about first aid and promoting volunteerism is a crucial aspect of societal and humanitarian responsibility. He noted the role these skills play in protecting lives and mitigating the risks associated with accidents and emergencies. He elaborated that the Red Crescent’s mission is founded on humanitarian principles and the importance of helping those in need, as well as responding to emergencies and disasters in a manner that preserves human dignity.
Furthermore, Al-Fuhayd indicated the significance of empowering youth with essential knowledge and skills for handling emergency situations. He stressed that involving students in interactive experiences and practical applications helps transform humanitarian awareness into responsible behavior, solidifying values of solidarity, teamwork, and community service.
Enhancing Community Engagement Through Education
The interactive stations are expected to provide students with a learning experience that bridges knowledge with practical application, helping them understand the correct response principles for accidents and the distinction between appropriate first aid procedures and situations requiring specialized intervention. This strengthens their preparedness to manage emergencies responsibly.
The initiative also includes creating and disseminating media content via social media platforms to highlight the significance of safe first response actions. The messaging will reflect values of solidarity and volunteerism, expanding the reach of these critical messages to youth audiences.
Through this initiative, the University of the Arabian Gulf underscores the importance of coordinated academic, institutional, and volunteer efforts in serving the community and preparing a more knowledgeable generation ready to deal with emergencies. Knowledge of first aid and a commitment to others go beyond theoretical learning, requiring practical application that embodies the values of humanitarian giving.
As the event unfolds, participants and organizers alike anticipate positive outcomes, including increased awareness and preparedness for emergencies within the community. Looking ahead, further initiatives may arise, aiming to continue integrating educational outreach with community engagement in future events.
