Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, recently announced plans to construct a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) hangar at Bahrain International Airport. This new development aims to boost Bahrain’s aviation capabilities and showcase the airline’s commitment to operational excellence. The hangar, spanning over 20,000 square metres, will feature temperature-controlled aircraft bays equipped with cutting-edge technology in aviation engineering, automation, and sustainability to ensure efficient maintenance services that meet international standards.

The facility will also house warehouses, workshops, and a dedicated aircraft apron, offering growth opportunities for engineers, technicians, and aviation experts. Gulf Air Group CEO Dr Jeffrey Goh expressed his excitement about the project, highlighting its potential to enhance Bahrain’s aviation sector. This hangar, the first of its kind dedicated to Gulf Air’s maintenance needs, will improve the skills and capabilities of Bahrain’s aircraft maintenance operations, ultimately boosting the carrier’s operational capacity.

The MRO hangar is expected to contribute significantly to the infrastructure at Bahrain International Airport managed by Bahrain Airport Company. This development aligns with Gulf Air’s strategic vision for future growth and expansion in the region. With a focus on high-quality and efficient maintenance services, the hangar will enable Gulf Air to provide top-notch services to its fleet as well as other operators. The cutting-edge technology and advanced facilities will ensure readiness and reliability for aircraft maintenance operations.

By investing in this advanced MRO hangar, Gulf Air is demonstrating its commitment to excellence and innovation in the aviation industry. The facility is set to become a hub for aircraft maintenance operations in Bahrain, attracting skilled professionals and enhancing the overall capabilities of the country’s aviation sector. As the first of its kind in the region, the hangar will serve as a key asset in Gulf Air’s long-term strategy for growth and success in the competitive aviation market.

Dr Jeffrey Goh’s enthusiasm for the project reflects the carrier’s dedication to driving forward-thinking strategies and operational efficiency. The MRO hangar is poised to revolutionize aircraft maintenance services in Bahrain and position Gulf Air as a leader in the industry. With a focus on sustainability and cutting-edge technology, this facility will set new standards for maintenance operations and play a crucial role in the airline’s future success. Gulf Air’s investment in this state-of-the-art hangar marks a significant milestone for Bahrain’s aviation sector and underscores the carrier’s commitment to delivering exceptional services to its customers.
