Gulf Air Pilots Reach Agreement with Airline

After a lengthy dispute, Gulf Air pilots have reached a favourable agreement with the national carrier, Gulf Air. The Gulf Air Pilots’ Union and the airline have finally settled on a collective labour agreement, ending a conflict that had escalated to the courts. The agreement covers a range of benefits for pilots, including annual salary increases, education allowances, child and spouse allowances, electricity support allowances, and health insurance.

According to the terms of the agreement, captains will receive a 60 Bahraini dinar annual increase added to their basic salary each month, while first officers will see a 50 Bahraini dinar annual increment. These increases are set to take effect in 2024 and will continue in accordance with company policies and any future amendments. In addition to salary increases, pilots will also receive educational allowances for up to four children, retroactive to 2022, as well as spouse and child allowances. The spouse allowance is set at 500 dinars per month for one spouse, while the child allowance is 150 dinars per month for each child under 19, for up to four children. Married pilots will also receive an electricity support allowance of 48 dinars, while unmarried pilots will receive 21 dinars per month.

The agreement also includes improvements to the health insurance policy offered to pilots and first officers. This policy will provide superior benefits, including enhancements in maternity benefits, eye exams, dental services for eligible family members, and coverage amounts. The policy will also offer better deductibles for all pilots, ensuring comprehensive health coverage for the airline’s employees and their families.

Overall, the agreement between Gulf Air pilots and the airline represents a significant step forward in resolving a long-standing conflict. Both parties have come to a mutually beneficial agreement that addresses key issues such as salary increases, allowances, and health insurance benefits. With these terms in place, pilots can now focus on their work with the reassurance of improved compensation and benefits, while Gulf Air can move forward with a more positive relationship with its pilots and a stronger focus on serving its customers.

In conclusion, the agreement between Gulf Air pilots and the airline marks the end of a challenging period and the beginning of a new chapter in their relationship. By reaching a collective labour agreement that addresses key concerns and provides improved benefits for pilots, Gulf Air has taken a significant step toward enhancing its workforce and ensuring a more positive working environment. With this agreement in place, both pilots and the airline can now look forward to a more productive and harmonious future, focused on delivering excellent service to their customers and maintaining a strong position in the aviation industry.
