UAE offers a plethora of opportunities for citizens and expats looking to start businesses. Many have come to the country and achieved success through hard work, dedication, and the favorable business environment provided by the government. Khaleej Times interviewed some expatriates who started from humble beginnings and went on to establish thriving businesses, showcasing the potential for growth and success in the UAE.

Muhammad Idrees Alam, originally from Bangladesh, started his career as a tea boy in an office canteen in 2005. Through perseverance and hard work, he managed to save enough money to start his own businesses – a parking car wash company in Dubai and an AC repair shop in Sharjah. Today, his companies employ 42 people, and he earns a monthly profit ranging between Dh30,000 and Dh40,000. Alam credits his success to honesty, hard work, and consistency, emphasizing the growth opportunities available in the UAE.

Faisal Hussain, also known as Madi Khan, arrived in Dubai as a construction worker in 2014. Despite facing challenges and earning less than Dh1,000 per month, he saw the potential for business growth in the UAE. After gaining industry knowledge, he ventured into facilitating customers for construction materials and later started selling on Amazon.ae. Khan’s online business thrived, and he now earns a monthly profit exceeding Dh30,000, showcasing the transformation from a labourer to a successful business owner in the UAE.

Saleem, a former barber turned salon owner in Sharjah, started his journey in the UAE with a monthly salary of Dh600 in 2006. With a dream of starting his own salon, Saleem worked hard and saved enough money to open a salon in 2008. His business grew, and he now earns over Dh6,000 in monthly profits. Saleem advises aspiring salon owners to handle the business registration process themselves and recommends learning Arabic and English to increase their chances of success in the competitive market.

The success stories of Alam, Khan, and Saleem reflect the opportunities available for individuals willing to work hard and seize the chances for growth in the UAE. The business-friendly policies, stable economy, and supportive environment contribute to the success of expatriates who come to the country with dreams of building a better future for themselves and their families. These stories serve as inspiration for others looking to start their entrepreneurial journey in the UAE and make their mark in the thriving business landscape of the region.

In conclusion, the UAE stands as a beacon of opportunity for individuals from diverse backgrounds seeking to build successful businesses and transform their lives. The stories of expatriates like Muhammad Idrees Alam, Faisal Hussain, and Saleem highlight the potential for growth and success in the country. With perseverance, hard work, and a vision for the future, anyone can achieve their entrepreneurial dreams in the UAE’s vibrant and dynamic business environment. As these success stories demonstrate, the UAE is a land of endless possibilities for those willing to take the leap and embark on their entrepreneurial journey.
