Bahraini voters living abroad now have the opportunity to cast their ballots at Bahrain’s embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions. This by-election was called after the Court of Cassation declared the seat previously held by former MP Mohammed Rafiq Al Hussaini vacant due to issues related to foreign citizenship. The voting is taking place today from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time at each location.

Ambassador Dr Issa Nasser Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary for Consular and Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has assured that all diplomatic missions are fully prepared for the election. The staff at each location play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth voting process for Bahrainis living abroad. Voting and counting committees have been established at each mission, led by the ambassador, consul general, or head of the mission. Voters must present a passport or approved document for verification and be listed on the electoral roll for the vacant constituency.

After verification, voters are recorded as having cast their vote. A detailed report is then compiled, noting the number of votes cast, including both valid and invalid ones, and the votes received by each candidate. This report, along with the ballot papers and voter list, is sealed in an envelope and sent to the Supreme Committee overseeing the election. A copy of the report is also immediately sent via email or fax.

The by-election has attracted seven candidates, each presenting their own platform and priorities. The competition is expected to be intense, with the results closely watched due to the history of tight races in the constituency. The outcome of this election will have significant implications for the political landscape in Bahrain.

Overall, Bahraini voters living abroad have a unique opportunity to participate in the democratic process and have their voices heard in the selection of their representative. The election process is being conducted in a transparent and organized manner, ensuring a fair and impartial outcome. This by-election serves as a reminder of the importance of civic engagement and the significance of every vote in shaping the future of the country.

In conclusion, the by-election for the vacant constituency seat is a significant event in Bahrain’s political calendar, with implications for the representation of Bahrainis living abroad. The competition among the candidates is expected to be fierce, with each presenting their vision for the constituency. The results of this election will be closely monitored, highlighting the importance of the electoral process in shaping the country’s future. Bahraini voters abroad have a vital role to play in this election, and their participation will determine the outcome of this closely watched race.
