The Qatari Teachers Fellowship Program (Khebrat) launched in 2023 by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, has been hailed for its positive outcomes. The program offered 15 Qatari public school teachers the opportunity to participate in a professional development program in Finland. Over a period of two months, the teachers learned about the Finnish educational system and acquired new skills that they were able to apply in the classroom upon their return to Qatar.

During the ceremony honoring the first batch of participants, HE the Minister expressed her belief that the impact of this experience will extend beyond the participating teachers to benefit hundreds of students and dozens of other teachers. She highlighted the importance of sharing experiences and promoting lifelong learning in the education sector. The projects presented by the teachers at the exhibition showcased their critical thinking and analysis skills, which they were able to pass on to their students.

The success of the Khebrat program has led to hopes for its expansion in terms of content, numbers, and specializations. Director of the Training and Development Center at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Iman Al Mohannadi, emphasized the importance of investing in human resources through programs like Khebrat, in alignment with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Plans are already in motion to open registration for the second batch of the program, with current specializations in science, mathematics, and English expected to expand to include Arabic and Islamic education.

The ceremony honoring the first batch of Khebrat participants was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, HE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, as well as other senior ministry officials. The event served as an opportunity to recognize the achievements of the teachers who took part in the program and to celebrate the positive impact they have had on their students and peers. With the success of the first batch of participants, it is clear that programs like Khebrat are instrumental in driving innovation and improvement in the education sector in Qatar.

In conclusion, the Qatari Teachers Fellowship Program (Khebrat) has been praised for its role in providing Qatari teachers with valuable professional development opportunities. The exchange of knowledge and experiences with educators from Finland has not only enhanced the skills and capabilities of the participating teachers but has also had a ripple effect on the wider education community in Qatar. As the program looks towards expanding its offerings and reaching more educators in the country, it is evident that initiatives like Khebrat play a crucial role in advancing the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and fostering a culture of lifelong learning and development.
