The Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, spearheaded by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), is currently 45 per cent complete. This project aims to serve about one million people and significantly reduce journey times from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes by 2030. It involves the development of 15 intersections along a 13 km stretch split into five phases to accommodate the scale of the project. The corridor serves Deira and Bur Dubai, as well as other prominent development projects in the area.

Phase 4 of the project covers a distance of 4.8 km from the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Road with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to the Falcon Intersection on Al Mina Street. This phase involves the construction of three bridges, extending 3.1 km, with a combined capacity of 19,400 vehicles per hour in all directions. Key features of this phase include three bridges of varying lengths to streamline traffic flow from different directions and upgraded surface roads on key streets in the area.
Several intersections along the Al Shindagha Corridor have already been completed, including important junctions like Sheikh Rashid Road Intersection with Oud Metha Street and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street. In addition, bridges and tunnels have been constructed to improve connectivity within the area, such as the bridges at the intersection of Al Khaleej Street and Abu Baker Al Siddique Road. These structures enhance traffic flow and accommodate the growing population and infrastructure development in Dubai.
As part of the ongoing Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, the RTA is currently working on constructing the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel. This tunnel extends from the end of the Infinity Bridge in Deira to the intersection of Al Khaleej Street with Cairo Street, spanning 1650 meters with three lanes in each direction. The tunnel aims to enhance traffic flow for motorists traveling between Deira and other parts of Dubai, along with other improvements to key junctions and street connections in the area.
