Parents in Dubai are actively participating in an online survey conducted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) to study the transportation needs of students and parents. This initiative is part of Dubai’s plan to improve traffic flow in the emirate, with a focus on developing a policy to encourage students to use school transport to ease traffic congestion around schools.

School leaders have highlighted the need for parents to utilize school buses as a cost-effective mode of transportation. They emphasized that traffic congestion in Dubai is a growing concern, with parents expressing worries about safety, convenience, and environmental impact. The survey aims to gather data on parents’ travel patterns, optimal school day start and end times, and interest in enrolling children in school transportation services provided by specialized companies in Dubai.

Principals from various schools have expressed their support for the survey initiative, acknowledging the value of the data collected in understanding current travel patterns and collaborating with stakeholders to develop strategic enhancements that positively impact the student journey. This collaborative approach is seen as crucial, especially with the anticipation of the forthcoming implementation of the Commercial Transport Strategy 2030, which will influence transport policies in the short, medium, and long term.

The survey seeks to address concerns raised by parents regarding traffic congestion, safety, and air quality in high-traffic areas. By collecting information on parents’ transportation preferences and suggestions, the authorities aim to make informed decisions that align with broader transport and educational goals, ultimately enhancing the overall experience for students in Dubai. School leaders and education officials appreciate the efforts of the Dubai government authorities and education regulator in improving traffic flow and enhancing the experience of families and staff.

In conclusion, the online survey conducted by RTA and KHDA in Dubai is aimed at understanding and studying the transportation needs of students and parents to improve traffic flow in the emirate. The active participation of parents and school leaders in promoting the use of school buses as a cost-effective mode of transportation is crucial in addressing traffic congestion and ensuring the safety and well-being of students. The survey initiative is seen as a collaborative effort to gather valuable insights that will guide strategic enhancements in transport policies and positively impact the student journey in Dubai.
