The summer months in the UAE bring intense heat, with temperatures soaring beyond 50 degrees Celsius. This extreme weather poses risks for drivers, as flat tires and tire bursts become more common during this period. Tyres can burst due to various reasons such as heat pressure, overloading, damage, inflation, age, and quality. In case of a tire burst while driving, motorists need to know how to handle the situation effectively to ensure their safety on the road.

Dubai Police have issued safety tips on how to deal with a tire burst while driving. These include maintaining a firm grip on the steering wheel, applying brakes gradually to avoid swerving, lifting the foot off the accelerator gradually, checking for clear road conditions, steering the vehicle towards the roadside, reducing speed by lightly applying brakes, and turning on emergency lights. It is crucial for drivers to follow these guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure their safety.

In addition to the heat pressure causing tire blowouts, a lack of checks can also lead to tire failure. Therefore, it is essential for motorists to conduct regular vehicle check-ups, especially during the summer months. To promote this practice, Dubai Police is offering a free car inspection service until the end of August. Private car owners can take advantage of this service by visiting AutoPro centers located across the UAE. By ensuring their vehicles are in top condition, drivers can prevent potential tire blowouts and other road hazards.

Abu Dhabi Police have also issued warnings to motorists about the risks of tire bursts, especially after recording 22 traffic accidents in 2023. They have identified six items that are susceptible to catching fire if left in a car during the hot summer months. It is important for drivers to be aware of these risks and take necessary precautions to prevent accidents and ensure their safety on the road. By staying informed and following safety guidelines, motorists can reduce the likelihood of tire blowouts and other hazards while driving in extreme weather conditions.
