Dubai experienced a significant increase in international overnight visitors in the first quarter of 2024, with a total of 5.18 million tourists arriving in the city. This marks an 11 per cent rise from the same period in 2023 when 4.67 million visitors arrived. The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) revealed this data at the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM). The city’s tourism industry is continuing to build on the momentum from a record-breaking year in 2023 when Dubai welcomed 17.15 million international overnight visitors.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, praised this achievement and expressed confidence in Dubai’s potential for another successful year. He highlighted the importance of the city’s continued growth in positioning itself as a leading global destination for both business and leisure travelers. This growth aligns with the goals set out in the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aimed at further establishing Dubai’s reputation on the global stage.

The Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, Helal Saeed Al Marri, emphasized the significance of Dubai’s record-breaking visitation numbers in showcasing the city’s commitment to long-term goals outlined in the D33 Agenda. As more tourists flock to Dubai, there is a growing demand for hotels in the city, outstripping the current supply. Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), emphasized the importance of continuing to drive global and market-specific promotional campaigns to attract visitors from around the world.

With Dubai’s tourism industry showing strong growth and continued interest from international travelers, it is essential for the city to focus on meeting the increasing demand for accommodations and services. The success achieved in the first quarter of 2024 sets a positive tone for the rest of the year, indicating that Dubai is on track to achieve another outstanding performance in terms of visitor arrivals and economic impact. By leveraging strategic partnerships and implementing effective marketing strategies, Dubai aims to remain a top destination for global travelers seeking both business opportunities and leisure experiences.
