Dhofar Municipality is currently working on executing four major road projects in Salalah with a total cost of OMR 34 million. These projects aim to improve the infrastructure, facilitate smooth traffic flow, and enhance the road network in Dhofar Governorate. The planning of these projects emphasizes the prompt delivery without disrupting traffic during the upcoming Khareef Season.

Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Ba’awain, Director General of the Directorate General of Projects and Technical Affairs at Dhofar Municipality, provided details about the projects. The Dualisation of Sultan Qaboos Road project, with a contract value of OMR 16,300, includes two lanes in each direction, internal road shoulders, parking lots, and a service road at Al Dahaliz area. Additionally, the project will feature traffic signals, interchanges, and protection works to enhance road safety.

The construction of the Al Farouq Road Project began at the end of March 2024 and is expected to take two years to complete at a cost of OMR 4.5 million. The Ateen Tunnel Project, which started in April, will continue for two years with a budget of OMR 7.5 million. This project aims to improve traffic flow at the intersection of 18 November Road with Ateen Road by replacing the existing roundabout with a tunnel.

The Municipality is keen on ensuring that the construction works do not disrupt traffic flow and will resume any remaining works following the end of the Khareef Season. These projects are crucial for the development of Dhofar Governorate and will contribute to the overall improvement of the road infrastructure in the region. The various road projects will not only enhance connectivity but also promote road safety and efficiency in Salalah.

The implementation of these road projects reflects Dhofar Municipality’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure and promoting economic growth in the region. By investing in the development of roads and highways, the Municipality is laying the foundation for sustainable development and improved quality of life for residents and visitors. These projects will not only support local businesses and industries but also boost tourism in Dhofar Governorate by providing better connectivity and transportation options.

In conclusion, the ongoing road projects in Salalah are a testament to Dhofar Municipality’s dedication to improving the region’s infrastructure and ensuring smooth traffic flow. With a total cost of OMR 34 million, these projects will play a crucial role in enhancing connectivity, promoting road safety, and supporting economic growth in Dhofar Governorate. The timely completion of these projects will further contribute to the overall development and prosperity of the region.
