Electric Vehicles (EVs) are considered the future of the global automobile industry, with predictions that nearly half of global car sales by 2035 could be EVs. In a recent EV forum organized by the Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA), Mr. Jawad Mohammed, CEO of Solidarity Bahrain and Chairman of BIA, emphasized the need for major changes in the entire ecosystem to adapt to this new trend. The aim of the forum was to address key issues related to the increasing popularity of EVs.

One of the important aspects discussed in the forum was the transition of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs. Mr. Michael Goode, Senior General Manager of Aftersales at Ebrahim. K. Kanoo, Bahrain highlighted the importance of customer care, road safety, and repair practices keeping pace with the advancing technology in EVs. He emphasized the need for collaboration among stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition for all road users in Bahrain.

The forum tackled various key topics related to EV adoption, including infrastructure, charging and connectivity, OEM transition and agency adoption, EV insurance innovation, accident safety and recovery, understanding of EV technology, and the environmental impact of EVs at the end of their lifecycle. Participants discussed the challenges and opportunities involved in each of these areas and shared their insights on how to address them effectively.

With the growing popularity of EVs, it has become crucial for stakeholders in the automobile industry to prepare for the shift towards electric mobility. The forum provided a platform for industry experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to exchange ideas and best practices to facilitate the transition smoothly. The discussions focused on the importance of creating a supportive ecosystem for EV adoption in Bahrain and exploring innovative solutions to address the challenges posed by this new technology.

As the automobile industry moves towards a more sustainable future, the forum highlighted the need for collaboration and cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure a successful transition to EVs. By addressing key issues such as infrastructure development, safety standards, and environmental impact, the forum aimed to pave the way for a more sustainable and efficient transportation system in Bahrain. The outcomes of the forum are expected to guide future initiatives and policies related to EV adoption in the kingdom.

Overall, the EV forum organized by the Bahrain Insurance Association served as a platform for industry leaders and experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by the increasing adoption of EVs. With a focus on key issues such as infrastructure, safety, and technology transition, the forum highlighted the importance of collaboration and innovation in preparing for the future of electric mobility. As Bahrain prepares to embrace electric vehicles, it is essential for stakeholders to work together towards creating a sustainable and efficient transportation system for the kingdom.
