The High Civil Court in Manama ruled in favor of a tenant of a football field in Sanad, ordering the contractor to pay over 6,000 dinars for defects in the installation of artificial turf. The tenant had initially contracted with the company to replace the turf at the stadium for 8,000 dinars, with an additional agreement for the installation of drainage for 850 dinars. However, the company failed to meet the agreed-upon deadline and the work was substandard, with uneven turf and debris left around the stadium.

Lawyer Iman Al Ansari, representing the tenant, stated that the company had also cut the main electrical cable supplying power to the Istiqlal Walkway, causing a power outage. The court reviewed an expert’s report which confirmed the substandard work done by the company, such as leaving the drainage pipe exposed and digging a trench without consulting the authorities, resulting in the severed cables.

The court held the company liable for the damages caused by the severed cables and ordered them to pay approximately 6,000 dinars for repairs. This included 1,293.400 dinars for the repair of the main electrical cable. The court dismissed the company’s claim that they had acted on the instructions of the caretaker, as the caretaker was not a party to the contract. It was also noted that the exposed drainage pipe posed a safety hazard to players, further highlighting the company’s negligence.

The ruling by the High Civil Court serves as a warning to contractors to uphold their end of the contract and ensure quality workmanship. It also emphasizes the importance of following proper procedures and obtaining necessary approvals before undertaking any construction work. The case highlights the consequences of cutting corners and failing to meet agreed-upon deadlines, which can result in financial liabilities and legal repercussions for the contractor.

The court’s decision to hold the company accountable for the damages caused by their negligence sends a strong message to other contractors to prioritize quality and safety in their work. It serves as a reminder that shortcuts and negligence will not be tolerated, and that contractors must adhere to professional standards and regulations. By upholding the rights of tenants and ensuring accountability in construction projects, the court promotes a culture of integrity and responsibility in the industry.

Overall, the ruling in the case of the football field in Sanad underscores the importance of quality workmanship, adherence to deadlines, and compliance with regulations in construction projects. The court’s decision to order the company to pay for the damages caused by their negligence sets a precedent for holding contractors accountable for substandard work. It serves as a reminder that contractors must prioritize safety, quality, and compliance with regulations to avoid legal consequences and financial liabilities in the future.
