Losing a job can be a daunting experience, especially during economic challenges. However, in Bahrain, Minister of Labour Jameel Humaidan is leading efforts to tackle this issue and explore alternative solutions to avoid job losses. The ministry has formed a committee to study layoffs and engage with company owners to implement strategies to retain Bahraini employees. This includes offering voluntary retirement and providing wage subsidies. The ministry is committed to finding solutions beneficial for both employees and employers.

The committee will study requests for workforce reductions and convene meetings with company owners to explore alternatives. Solutions may involve offering employees positions in other departments or branches within the same company or facilitating their transfer to similar businesses. Providing early retirement to eligible Bahraini employees and wage subsidies to retain national workers are some suggestions that will be considered. The ministry has successfully prevented or reduced layoffs in the past without compromising business interests.

If layoffs become unavoidable, Bahraini workers will be ensured all rights and necessary compensation as per Labour Law in the Private Sector. The ministry will guarantee payment of unemployment benefits at a rate of 60% of the insured worker’s salary for nine months, up to 1,000 Bahraini dinars. Additionally, there is a specialised employment team dedicated to monitoring the reemployment of laid-off Bahraini workers. This team will facilitate their reintegration into the labour market by recommending suitable job opportunities and referring them to training courses to enhance their skills.

The ministry’s approach reflects a proactive stance on addressing job losses and providing support to affected employees. By exploring alternative solutions and engaging with company owners, they aim to minimize the impact of layoffs and ensure the well-being of Bahraini workers. The focus on offering early retirement and wage subsidies shows a commitment to retaining national employees and preventing unnecessary job losses. Additionally, the specialized employment team demonstrates a dedication to helping laid-off workers find new job opportunities and enhance their skills for reintegration into the workforce.

In conclusion, the efforts led by Minister of Labour Jameel Humaidan and the Ministry of Labour in Bahrain highlight a proactive approach to addressing layoffs and supporting affected employees. By forming a committee to study workforce reductions and exploring alternatives, they aim to prevent unnecessary job losses and retain Bahraini workers. The focus on offering early retirement and wage subsidies demonstrates a commitment to finding solutions beneficial for both employees and employers. The presence of a specialized employment team further emphasizes the ministry’s dedication to facilitating the reintegration of laid-off workers into the labour market. Overall, these initiatives showcase a comprehensive strategy to mitigate the impact of job losses and support Bahraini workers during challenging economic times.
