As the summer temperatures rise, technicians in auto electrical garages have reported an increase in vehicle air conditioner malfunctions. These malfunctions are often attributed to gas leakage or problems with compressor devices. To prevent such issues, experts advise motorists to park their cars under a canopy or in indoor parking away from direct sunlight. Additionally, they recommend refraining from using the air conditioner while the vehicle is stationary for extended periods, as this can impact its performance and efficiency negatively.

Car air conditioner and electrical repair shop owners stress that operating the air conditioner with open windows is not advisable. It is crucial to recharge the air conditioner gas at reputable garages to ensure its proper functioning. Mohammed Qasim, an air conditioning technician in Isa Town, emphasizes the importance of maintaining the air conditioner by avoiding running it when the car is idle. He warns that sitting in a stationary car for prolonged periods can damage the air conditioner, and running it without the engine on is a common cause of malfunctions.

Hassan Rajab, the owner of a repair shop in Souq Waqif, notes the availability of various types of gas in the local markets, including Japanese, Indian, Italian, American, and French. He recommends using these types for air conditioner recharges, with prices ranging from 5 to 15 Dinars. Rajab advises vehicle owners to ensure that technicians empty the old gas and remove air from the air conditioner before recharging, as this is the most effective method. He warns that some technicians may skip this step to save on gas, resulting in poor performance.

In terms of pricing, Rajab mentions that the costs of automobile gas cylinders have remained stable over the past year. Following a 40% increase in prices in 2022 due to the Ukrainian-Russian crisis, an American gas cylinder now costs 66 Dinars, up from 64 Dinars for a 13-kilogram cylinder. French and Italian gas cylinders are priced at 44 Dinars, while Indian gas cylinders are available for 40 Dinars. Ensuring that the air conditioner is properly maintained and recharged with the appropriate gas can help prevent malfunctions and keep it running smoothly during the hot summer months.

In conclusion, with the summer heat causing an increase in vehicle air conditioner malfunctions, it is essential for motorists to take preventive measures to ensure the proper functioning of their car’s air conditioning system. By following the advice of expert technicians, such as parking in shaded areas, refraining from using the air conditioner while stationary for extended periods, and recharging the gas at reputable garages, drivers can avoid common issues such as gas leaks and compressor problems. Additionally, owners should be aware of the types of gas available in the market and make sure that technicians follow the correct procedures for recharging the air conditioner to maintain its efficiency and performance. By staying proactive and informed, vehicle owners can keep their air conditioners running smoothly throughout the summer season.
