The recent approval of draft constitutional amendments by the Shura Council was welcomed by the Cabinet in Doha. The Cabinet emphasized the cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities in implementing the vision of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. This vision prioritizes national unity, justice, consultation, the rule of law, and equal citizenship in rights and duties. The Cabinet also noted the issuance of Decree No. 87 of 2024 inviting citizens to a referendum to enhance popular participation in public affairs and strengthen national unity.

Preparations for the upcoming referendum on the constitutional amendments were discussed, with the Ministry of Interior and the general referendum committee working intensively to make all necessary arrangements. This national event will once again showcase the unity between the Qatari people and their leader. The focus remains on national unity, social cohesion, and adherence to established national principles and values. The Cabinet also approved a draft resolution to establish a committee to inventory government warehouses, aiming to unify procedures, increase efficiency, and reduce budgets allocated to them.

In addition, the Cabinet approved amendments to Resolution No. 32 of 2013 regarding the Grievances Committee of the Qatar Financial Markets Authority. A draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in tourism and business events between Qatar and Algeria was also approved. Furthermore, the Cabinet was briefed on a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and the Folke Bernadotte Academy in Sweden regarding cooperation in peace, mediation, and conflict resolution signed in September 2024.

During the meeting, the Cabinet reviewed reports on various topics and made decisions accordingly. This included the results of the Government Resource Planning and Management System project, the annual report on the activities of the Qatar Financial Markets Authority, and the participation of the State of Qatar delegation in the Qatari-Finnish businesspersons forum. The emphasis remains on cooperation, efficiency, and strengthening national unity through these initiatives.

In conclusion, the recent developments in Doha reflect the government’s commitment to implementing constitutional amendments in line with Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s vision. The focus on national unity, justice, equal citizenship, and popular participation in public affairs highlights the government’s dedication to serving the interests of the Qatari people. By approving various resolutions and memoranda of understanding, the Cabinet is working towards unifying procedures, promoting cooperation in various fields, and enhancing peace, mediation, and conflict resolution efforts. The ongoing preparations for the upcoming referendum on constitutional amendments demonstrate the government’s commitment to ensuring the participation of the Qatari people in national decision-making processes.
