The Bangladeshi expatriate community in Oman is feeling anxious about the deteriorating situation in their home country, where protests have led to over 100 deaths. The unrest has caused disruptions in communication, making it challenging for expats in Oman to stay informed about the well-being of their families back home. The protests initially began as a student-led movement demanding changes in civil service job hiring practices but have escalated into widespread unrest.

Sirajul Haque, Chairman of the Bangladesh Social Club Oman, has urged Bangladeshi expatriates in Oman not to hold any demonstrations or gatherings without official permission. The club has taken steps to ensure that all members are aware of Omani laws regarding public gatherings and has emphasized the importance of adhering to them. This warning comes in the wake of several Bangladeshi expatriates being detained in the UAE for participating in protests against their home government.

The situation in Bangladesh has left the expat community in Oman deeply concerned about the safety of their families. With disruptions in communication, including the shutdown of the internet, staying in touch with loved ones has become a challenge. The unofficial death toll from the protests has surpassed 110, further heightening the expats’ distress. Despite the challenges, the community is monitoring the situation closely and hoping for a peaceful resolution.

In the UAE, Bangladeshi expatriates have been detained for participating in protests against the government. The public prosecutor’s office in the UAE stated that the individuals were arrested for gathering in public places and inciting unrest. This development has served as a warning to the Bangladeshi community in Oman, urging them to abide by local laws and avoid any legal repercussions. The community is being urged to remain calm and peaceful during this turbulent time.

The Bangladesh Social Club Oman has taken proactive measures to ensure that all its members are informed about the regulations regarding public gatherings in Oman. Special meetings were held at the club premises to brief members about the importance of adhering to Omani laws. The club has emphasized the need for calm and peace amidst the escalating violence in Bangladesh, urging its members to stay united and comply with the regulations in Oman.

Despite the challenges faced by the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Oman, they are determined to stay connected with their families back home and support each other during this difficult time. The community is closely monitoring the situation in Bangladesh and hoping for a peaceful resolution to the unrest. In the meantime, they are heeding the advice to remain calm, follow the local laws, and avoid any actions that could lead to legal consequences.
