Bahrain’s ePassport has been recognized with the prestigious 2024 Red Dot Award for Design, with the ceremony scheduled to take place in Berlin on November 1, 2024. This award is considered one of the most esteemed international accolades in design competitions, signifying global recognition of quality standards in design. The Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence at the Interior Ministry, Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, expressed his pride in this prestigious recognition, highlighting it as an international honor for Bahrain during the prosperous reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Sheikh Hisham also acknowledged the significant contributions of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in the development of Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs services. He also expressed appreciation for the continuous support of General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, which has played a pivotal role in achieving these global awards. The Undersecretary emphasized that Bahrain’s ePassport’s success is a reflection of the country’s commitment to combining design aesthetics and security features using the latest technologies in identity documents.

The Ministry of Interior’s Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs expressed gratitude for the recognition and extended his appreciation to the ePassport team and all those involved in achieving this milestone. Winning the award among submissions from various companies and design studios worldwide, Bahrain’s ePassport was awarded the “Best of the Best” by the jury, aligning with the Red Dot company’s slogan “Winning is Just the Beginning”. Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, commended the design team for their exceptional work, highlighting the unique design and creative performance that led to this momentous achievement.

The ePassport project is set to be featured in the “International Yearbook Brands & Communication Design” and showcased in the winners’ section on www.red-dot.org and other exhibitions, ensuring that it receives the recognition and attention it rightfully deserves. This recognition not only showcases Bahrain’s dedication to providing superior services and innovation but also serves as a testament to the country’s commitment to excellence in design and technology. The award-winning ePassport reflects Bahrain’s strive for continuous improvement and advancement in all services provided to its citizens.
