A Bahraini family involved in a tragic car accident in Iraq is expected to begin returning home next Sunday. The accident occurred in June 2024 near the Iraqi city of Nasiriyah, resulting in the death of one family member, Fawziya Al Najjar. Six other family members sustained injuries, with one remaining in critical condition and two undergoing surgery for fractures. The family members who have recovered sufficiently will be transported back to Bahrain on a Gulf Air flight, with the first group expected to arrive next Sunday.

The Bahraini Embassy in Iraq, led by Ambassador Khalid Al Mansour, has been providing unwavering support and assistance to the family during this difficult time. The Embassy has been instrumental in providing consular services and facilitating the repatriation process for the injured family members. The family expressed their gratitude for the support they have received from the Embassy.

Sources close to the family confirmed that some of the injured family members have recovered sufficiently to return to Bahrain. The first group of family members is expected to arrive next Sunday on a Gulf Air flight. The family members who have recovered are set to be transported back home, while those who remain hospitalized will continue to receive medical treatment in Nasiriyah.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident was in a state of denial, unaware of his mother’s passing and with limited recollection of the accident. The accident claimed the life of Fawziya Al Najjar, whose remains were laid to rest in the Al Salim cemetery in Najaf, Iraq. The family is still coming to terms with the tragic loss of their loved one and the injuries sustained by other family members in the accident.

The family’s return to Bahrain is a bittersweet moment as they mourn the loss of Fawziya Al Najjar while also celebrating the recovery of those injured in the accident. The support provided by the Bahraini Embassy in Iraq has been crucial in helping the family navigate this difficult time and begin the process of returning home. The family is grateful for the assistance they have received and appreciative of the efforts made by the Embassy to ensure their safe return to Bahrain.
