Her Excellency Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Economic Development Board, recently participated in the ministerial segment of the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York. The annual forum, held under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council, provides a platform to assess progress and challenges faced in advancing the UN 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. Alkhulaif showcased Bahrain’s efforts in accelerating SDG implementation, highlighting the nation’s dedication to a sustainable future through building a low-carbon economy and fostering a thriving green economy.
During the high-level segment titled “From the SDG Summit to the Summit of the Future”, Alkhulaif presented Bahrain’s initiatives announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, reaffirming international cooperation and fostering global peace. She also spoke about Bahrain’s focus on economic development, guided by directives from HM the King and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in formulating Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2050, prioritizing social and cultural development while preserving the heritage of Bahraini cities. Ambassador Francis commended Bahrain’s leadership in implementing the SDGs, especially highlighting the establishment of a dedicated Ministry for Sustainable Development.
