Bahrain poised to excel at Paris Olympics

Bahrain is set to make a splash at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, with a delegation of 14 athletes representing the Kingdom in various sports. The team includes a mix of eight female and six male athletes, competing in disciplines such as athletics, swimming, weightlifting, judo, and wrestling. This marks Bahrain’s eleventh appearance at the Summer Olympics since making its debut in 1984. The Kingdom has a history of success at the games, having won four medals in the most recent Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The Bahraini delegation at the Paris Olympics is led by swimmers Saud Ghali and Amani Al Obaidli, who proudly carried the Kingdom’s flag during the opening ceremony. The athletics team boasts a talented lineup of runners, including Birhanu Balew, Salwa Eid Nasser, and Oluwakemi Adekoya, among others. In weightlifting, Gor Minasyan and Lesman Paredes Montano will represent Bahrain, while Askerbey Jerbekoff and Ahmed Tajeddin will compete in judo and wrestling, respectively.

Bahrain has a strong presence in marathon running, with athletes like Eunice Chumba, Rose Chelimo, and Tigist Gashaw set to compete in the prestigious event. The Kingdom has a track record of success in long-distance running, with Maryam Jamal making history as the first Bahraini woman to win an Olympic gold medal in the 1500-meter race. Bahrain’s athletes are known for their dedication to excellence and commitment to showcasing their sporting prowess on the global stage.
