Nibras Taleb, the CEO of Bahrain’s Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), recently met with a Kuwaiti delegation led by Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al Duaij Al Sabah, Kuwait’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights. During the meeting, Taleb emphasized the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing between Bahrain and Kuwait to improve the work environment, combat illicit practices, and address human trafficking. The discussions took place at the Migrant Workers Protection Society, where Taleb showcased Bahrain’s initiatives and projects in combating human trafficking and upholding labor rights.

One key initiative highlighted by Taleb was the National Referral Mechanism (NRM), an integrated electronic system that brings together governmental and non-governmental entities to streamline operations effectively. This system plays a crucial role in identifying and assisting victims of human trafficking. The Kuwaiti delegation was able to gain insights into the work of the Migrant Workers Protection Society, which offers preventive, advisory, legal, and shelter services for victims and potential victims of human trafficking. Additionally, they were briefed on the Regional Centre of Excellence and Capacity Building for Combatting Trafficking in Persons, which aims to equip certified trainers with the necessary skills to combat human trafficking.

The meeting between the Bahraini and Kuwaiti officials highlighted the ongoing efforts of both countries to address human trafficking and protect the rights of migrant workers. By sharing knowledge and best practices, both nations can work together more effectively to combat illicit practices and provide support to victims of human trafficking. The discussions at the Migrant Workers Protection Society provided a platform for dialogue and collaboration, setting the stage for future cooperation between Bahrain and Kuwait in this important area.

The Regional Centre of Excellence and Capacity Building for Combatting Trafficking in Persons is a key initiative that equips trainers with the necessary skills to identify and assist victims of human trafficking effectively. By building capacity in this area, Bahrain and Kuwait can enhance their ability to combat human trafficking and provide support to those affected by this crime. The centre plays a vital role in training and equipping individuals to play an active role in combating human trafficking and supporting victims.

Overall, the meeting between Nibras Taleb and the Kuwaiti delegation highlighted the commitment of both Bahrain and Kuwait to combat human trafficking and protect the rights of migrant workers. By working together and sharing knowledge and best practices, both nations can strengthen their efforts in combating illicit practices and supporting victims of human trafficking. The ongoing collaboration between Bahrain and Kuwait in this area demonstrates a shared commitment to upholding human rights and promoting a safe and fair work environment for all individuals.
