The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ in Doha, Qatar has launched the Future Engineer Program 3 in collaboration with the Qatar Scientific Club. This program is aimed at high school students and is designed to introduce them to the various fields and specializations within engineering. The program includes workshops and field visits to laboratories and departments of Ashghal and Qatar Scientific Club, providing students with valuable engineering information.

The Future Engineer Program began on July 14 and will run until July 24, with 30 students participating. Students will learn about the tasks of Engineering Services Department, Quality and Safety Department, Drainage Operation and Maintenance Department, and Buildings Projects Department. They will be introduced to the various aspects of these departments and will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning experiences.

In the second week of the program, participants will receive training at the Qatar Scientific Club, where they will learn about innovation, sustainable development goals, and participate in a hackathon. During the hackathon, students will work against the clock to turn their ideas into prototypes and present their final models in an exhibition evaluated by engineers and field experts.

Abdulrahman Khamis, Deputy Executive Director of Qatar Scientific Club, emphasized the importance of the Future Engineer program in preparing young students for careers in engineering. He praised the support of Ashghal and Qatar Scientific Club in creating a comprehensive program that focuses on practical skills and engineering disciplines.

Abdulla Al Saad, Public Relations And Communications Department Manager at the Public Works Authority, highlighted the importance of developing students’ scientific and practical abilities through the Future Engineer Program. He emphasized the Authority’s commitment to nurturing future Qatari engineers and providing them with opportunities to learn about various engineering disciplines and work environments.

Rashid Saeed Al-Hajri, Manager of Human Resources Department at Ashghal, expressed the Authority’s dedication to shaping the skills and capabilities of students through the Future Engineer Program. He explained that the program will be divided into two phases, with the first phase including lectures, workshops, and field visits at Ashghal, and the second phase featuring a hackathon competition at Qatar Scientific Club focused on sustainability in construction.

Eman Al-Obaidi, QSC Public Relations and Communications Section Head, emphasized the importance of engineering in building nations and fostering the advancement of countries. She highlighted the role of engineers in shaping the future and expressed hope that the Future Engineer Program will lead to successful engineering careers for participating students, contributing to the development and growth of Qatar.
