The use of a car’s blind spot warning system is encouraged to alert drivers of nearby passing vehicles or vehicles in their blind spots.
The blind spot warning system uses sensors on the rear bumper and side mirrors to check for cars in blind spots or adjacent lanes, reducing collision risks. This advisory is also applicable to drivers of heavy vehicles in Abu Dhabi. Starting January 29, heavy vehicles were allowed to use the second right lane for overtaking on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Street. Heavy vehicle drivers are reminded to adhere to guidelines, stick to the right lane, check blind spots before overtaking, use signals early on, and return to the right lane after overtaking.
Using the shoulder for overtaking can obstruct emergency vehicles and result in serious violations with fines and black points.
