Starting on July 29, paid parking will be implemented in two areas in Abu Dhabi: Khalifa Commercial District and Etihad Plaza in Khalifa City, as announced by authorities. The introduction of the Mawaqif service is a part of efforts to reduce illegal parking and enhance safety and security in the emirate. Mawaqif, a government entity under Abu Dhabi Mobility (AD Mobility), is responsible for managing and organising parking spaces in Abu Dhabi. Different types of parking zones are categorized under Mawaqif, each with its own fee structure. While the charges for the new areas are yet to be clarified, the general guidelines include premium and standard parking zones. Premium zones charge Dh3 per hour for a maximum of four hours, while standard zones charge Dh2 per hour or Dh15 for 24 hours, with free parking on Sundays and public holidays.

The Mawaqif service being activated in the Khalifa Commercial District and Etihad Plaza follows the completion of infrastructure works and installation of signboards in these areas. This move aims to streamline parking management, reduce congestion and ensure a smoother flow of traffic in these busy locations. AD Mobility has been working towards implementing measures to address parking challenges and enhance the overall parking experience in Abu Dhabi. By introducing paid parking zones, the authorities are not only improving traffic conditions but also discouraging illegal parking practices that can disrupt the flow of vehicles and pose safety risks to pedestrians and other road users.

To stay updated with the latest news and developments, people are encouraged to follow KT on WhatsApp Channels. This allows residents and visitors in Abu Dhabi to receive timely updates and information regarding the introduction of paid parking in the Khalifa Commercial District and Etihad Plaza. By keeping informed about these changes, individuals can plan their parking arrangements accordingly and avoid any potential fines or penalties for illegal parking. The implementation of paid parking is a step towards creating a more organized and efficient parking system in the emirate, benefiting both motorists and the local community.

As a government entity dedicated to managing parking spaces in Abu Dhabi, Mawaqif plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective utilization of parking facilities and regulating parking activities across the emirate. By categorizing parking zones into premium and standard types, Mawaqif establishes clear guidelines on parking fees and durations, making it easier for motorists to understand and comply with parking regulations. While details on the specific charges for the newly introduced paid parking areas are yet to be announced, the existing fee structures for premium and standard zones provide a glimpse into the pricing model adopted by Mawaqif.

In the premium parking zones, which are identified by white and blue signs, motorists are required to pay Dh3 per hour for a maximum of four hours from 8am to 12am. On the other hand, standard parking zones, denoted by black and blue signs, charge Dh2 per hour or Dh15 for 24 hours of parking. Additionally, parking in standard zones is free on Sundays and public holidays, offering motorists some flexibility in their parking arrangements. By defining clear fee guidelines for different types of parking zones, Mawaqif aims to create a fair and transparent system that encourages compliance and discourages illegal parking practices.

Overall, the introduction of paid parking in the Khalifa Commercial District and Etihad Plaza marks a significant step towards improving parking management in Abu Dhabi. By leveraging the Mawaqif service and its expertise in parking organization, AD Mobility is working towards creating a more efficient and secure parking environment for residents and visitors in the emirate. The implementation of paid parking zones is expected to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and promote road safety in these busy areas. As Abu Dhabi continues to develop its infrastructure and enhance urban mobility, initiatives like the introduction of paid parking play a crucial role in shaping a sustainable and well-organized transportation system for the future.
